Role Models

Estelle was both excited and nervous about going to school that morning. She was going to present her project today in front of the entire class. They were told to write a paper about their role model, which was her big brother of course, and to bring one item that represented them. After a little help from mom and dad, she was finally ready. She was a little sad that Percy couldn't come to see her give her speech, it was all for him after all, but mom told her that he would be at school. Estelle was dropped off in front of the school and ran to her classroom. As she sat down in her seat, waiting for class to begin, she rubbed the bracelet on her wrist. Percy had made it for her before the school year started. It was made of a small leather band with a single turquoise bead on it, the bead was decorated with a gold-bronze outline of a seashell. She was so focused on it that she had barely noticed her name being called by the teacher "Estelle Jackson, it's your turn sweetheart." Estelle slowly raised from her seat and walked to the front of the class, her paper and bracelet in hand. After taking a deep breath, she turned to look at all of the people in front of her. Her stomach turned to acid as all of the people in the room stared at her. She wondered what would happen if she just left the room, or if she continued to stay silent, would they laugh at her. Thankfully, she caught a sudden movement in the window, there was someone there. The image of a boy with messy black hair and odd green eyes appeared, he was just peeking his head up high enough for her to him. "Percy !" she squealed happily before remembering where she was and why she was up there. Her teacher looked at her with concern, she had obviously not seen him yet. Fortunately for both of her and her brother, Estelle was quick. "My paper is about my big brother, Percy" she announced before continuing to read her paper, never taking her eyes off of him. Overall, it was great, even when all of the sinks in the nearby bathrooms all exploded simultaneously when she finished. School had even been canceled for the rest of the day, Percy took her home. He even stopped for ice cream, (Blue Moon, of course) it was the best day at school Estelle ever had.
