Radhika stood outside the Malhotra Villa, contemplating whether or not to take the step inside. She really didn't want to disappoint Vikas and Maya, nor did she want to face Sahil. Why on earth does she keep bumping into him?
Their last conversation happened a couple of days ago, in the Ganga Ghat, amidst the coolest breeze, darkest night sky, brightest diya, and the colorful crowd ahead of them. The peace of mind she experienced while having him hold her hands during the Ganga Aarti was still surreal. It felt so perfect. Radhika's walls were shaking and she was experiencing the worst confliction ever. Her mind constantly clashed between the happenings of past and present rendering her like a pillar on the middle of the road unable to take any step forward or backward.
"Are you here for the party?" The gatekeeper asked noticing her lingering outside the entrance. Clearing her throat, she gave him a clumsy nod.
"Your name?"
"Radhika Sharma."
"Please come in." The gatekeeper said after jotting down her name in his diary and opened the large gates to the villa.
With shaking steps, she walked inside. Her heart was at it's frantic best. It was something that her heart kept doing in Sahil's presence. She only met the man like what 4 times? How can her mind think about someone so much whom she hardly knew?
Thinking back to their chat in the Haridwar, her mind didn't agree on the fact that Radhika hardly knew Sahil. He had opened up to her like a book! She too had spoken and shared many thoughts with him. Something she hardly did with anybody else.
"Radhika Miss!!" Maanvi yelled as soon as she crossed the threshold. Radhika scooped Maanvi up in the air while gushing, "Happy Birthday!" She even placed a kiss on Maanvi's cheeks and gave her the gift that was neatly wrapped with ribbons.
Excited, Maanvi squealed, "Thank you Miss!!"
"You came!" Maya hugged Radhika and soon Vikas followed the suit. From the corner of her eyes, she spotted Sahil stop his chat with his mother and turn towards her.
As much as she wanted to avoid it, their eyes met and Radhika felt a jolt of something pass through her. She is going insane!
"Come in! It's time for cake-cutting." Maya said dragging Radhika towards the middle of the room where a round table was kept. A two tier cake with a princess design was placed at the center.
