" God , damn it , he must be pretty old now, why do you still crush on him?" That's the ultimate reaction of literally everyone , regarding my relationship with "Physically out of reach" Morten Harket.

What the world knows : He's that comic book guy from "Take On Me" video. He's that singer with a weird tooth gap. He's just another MTV pretty boy ( That was Spotify's description of Morten , not kidding) , He's the lead singer of a-ha. A "temporary" sex symbol ( Smash Hits' perspective)

What i know ( And the rest of his fans) : He's Morten Harket. An Incredible Human Being.

1. Voice.

Morten entered my life not through eyes, but through my ears. I was more than delighted to hear his voice. That crisp, clear delicate voice was eternal,if I say so myself. I was introduced to him with a choir boyish falsetto voice, that high delicate note in "Hunting High And Low" (Highhh..) and in "Take On Me" of course ( In a day or twoooo). Once his voice enters your mind, there's no going back. Example? Listen to those songs, Read those words in the bracket, can you hear Morten singing? There you go ❤️I also love how his voice matures with time. From high falsetto in "Take on Me" to hauntingly low vocals in "Locust" . Variation and maturation is beautiful. I also love how his voice coordinates with the theme and the vibe of the album. ( Light, radio friendly vibe in Hunting High And Low / Dark , sophomore vibe in Memorial Beach)

Also, when you listen to his solo albums, his voice is more huskier and more manly. It's so prominent on the song that hit the Norwegian charts "A Kind Of Christmas Card" and "Spanish Steps". The huskiness in his voice is something worth appreciating.

2. Similarities/ Stuff i can relate myself with

I can't help but notice a lot of similarities between me and Morten Harket. He loves both love Biology , particularly Botany. We are crazy dreamers, as children. We both had tame hobbies, he loved growing orchids and I loved drawing. We both were outcasts too. His wild imagination made him quite different from other children. We both stayed away from narrow minded cliques during our High school years. Although we both have different dreams and different perceptions , we both were different from the societies we lived in. When it comes to authority figures, Morten and l lose interest in learning about a particular skills. Morten mentioned that he lost interest in music when the piano turned up, when he was a kid. I felt the same, during drawing classes, on situations like this, we both like to be self-sustainable (self-learning). "Discipline" clearly isn't his cup of tea..and the same goes for me as well. I always tend to break rules when there are rules , in a good way.

Morten had this habit of going on and on about a certain topic. i.e he goes deeper and deeper when he talks about something. If you can watch his interviews , you can understand what i' trying to say (lol) . Suppose you wanna know what his favorite color is , he goes like "Every color is beautiful..." and starts talking about why every color is his favorite..That's his train of thought.

I had the same habit too. I talk about something , which is later interlinked to another thing. I just don't know the main reason behind this. It's kinda weird but beautiful at the same time.

One of my friend mentioned that he's a good puzzle , hard to solve. But i don't know why i can understand a lot to things about Morten , which is hard for other people to understand.

( Did you just see my flow of thoughts? I hope you liked my demo)

One of the most sensitive thing I can relate to -with Morten is : Being Bullied.

Morten mentioned that he was humiliated and Bullied during the elementary school years. Everyday , after school , He was surrounded by the boys and beat him to a pulp , out of no reason. I was beaten too. In fact i was humiliated a lot , for around two years. Due to which i was isolated. Morten also mentioned that those days in his life made him stronger and tougher.I had the same feeling too.

I can relate to him so much that i'm spiritually connected to him.

3. He developed my Sexuality

That's right. I'm straight , because i was attracted to him , as a person. He enhanced my sexuality in many ways. It's hard to explain it in words but he shaped my orientation, just like that.

4. His Character and Personality

Morten has a unique personality. He's mysterious , tame and a deep thinker. Normally, you would expect someone as gorgeous as him to be somewhat of an airhead. The opposite is true with this deep thinker. The mapping of his words is often very complex and difficult to follow, but it always comes back full circle. This is the hallmark of a busy mind, so many thoughts must be racing in his head that it must be difficult to get the words out clearly. Typical Morten. He seems to be the tame one. He doesn't seem to have a clear-cut, easy to pinpoint personality, so I guess the word that would describe him most is mysterious. Even the convoluted way he speaks shows that he is shrouded in mystery, which only adds to the intrigue. I love the fact that he's mysterious, which makes me more curious about him.

Adding to that , Morten is deeply involved in helping others , lifting up their self esteems and always giving them a chance , when they deserved one.

Paul Waaktaar-Savoy describes Harket as being "totally different from me." He recalls the band's first visit to together, during which Harket burned all his clothes and re-fashioned his wardrobe. "He has given me self-confidence, encourages me to talk to people, not to be afraid and to use the abilities I have. Morten is actually the only one in Norway who had as much ambition as I did. I guess we both have big egos. In a way, we're each sitting in our own little world, while Mags is more down to earth. Mags often has to mediate between Morten and me... It's good that we're so different and still respect each other. The tension between us is creative."

Magne Furuholmen describes Harket as "together". Furuholmen says Harket "believes strongly in everything he does. This goes for the band too, and it rubs off on us. He has the courage of his own convictions and cannot be shaken. He's an expert at always getting the last word, whether he's right or not. Morten is very loyal and he's fair when it comes to giving people a chance, letting them show who they are and what they're worth before judging them."

5.  His Solo works

Wild Seed and Brother are some of my favorite works of Morten's solo discography. He nailed it in his voice! And also , some of his songwriting skills and variation in his vocals ( as mentioned before) is definitely note-worthy! Even his Norwegian albums are worth listening to , even though you don't understand the language. If you understand the language , you can notice the way Morten's voice syncs up with deep Biblical lyrics ( In Poetenes Evangelium) and easy + complex  lyrics ( Vogts Villa) , if you don't speak Norwegian , it's still alright...just enjoy his voice!

6. He's too Handsome

His attractiveness is just...well..He makes me choke in overdose of cuteness and extreme sexiness. He's a different kind of beautiful. His fluffy , brown hair is like strands of heavenly silk. Every inch of his skin is like holy grail. His muscular, but slender shoulders is just way beyond attractive. His body is like a beautiful sculpture. His eyes are small ..sooo small but beautiful. Apart from his character ( which i fell for) His blue sapphire eyes is what makes "Morten" Morten, if you get what i'm saying XD. His jawline , his kissable lips and everything about his face....is an artwork to behold. Lemme rephrase it from a famous line from the song Velvet - "His face carved from stone". That's right, he's as beautiful as Norwegian Fjords.
