Katniss POV
"Kat! Get the hell over here!" wails the blonde beauty, a querulous look plastered across her face. Glued to her side is her other half – the blonde beast. He seems.. somewhat uninterested; jaded. Sighing, I hop over like a frog and spot beauty looming over a girl with a young face, a perturbed look spread across her face. Dark crimson already seeps from her temple as a displeasing lump takes formation. Dark brunette hair flows down, slightly curly. She seems more
on the smaller side – I bet you her jeans would fit my little sister and trust me, prim is small. However her striking emerald eyes really do stand out, scintillating in the light. She really is quite beautiful – I desperately wish I could do something to remove her from beauty's grasp. But there's no getting out from her. Mess with beauty and you'll be done – forever. I can tell beast is conjuring a similar thought, but if he were to do anything of the likes of defending another girl, he would have bone-chilling consequences. I honestly don't know why he still puts up with beauty; he claims they're "desperately in love". But I know Cato, and I know he feels nothing for beauty. But there's no getting out from her. Mess with beauty and you'll be done – forever. Oh, I haven't quite got round to her name yet, you'll never guess.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? Thinking you can strut in like a freaking queen and steal MY POSITION. Well sweetie, there's only one queen here, and you'll never ... guess ... who.."
she almost whispers the last part, like a torturer asking her victim if they have 'any last words'. The room falls silent instantly, all eyes on the two. Beauty really can make someone miserable – I despise her. Instinct gets to me, and without warning, I blurt out,
"Leave it glimmer, what did she do, spill some water on your shoe by accident?"
I snap, almost a little too harsh. Instantly regretting it, I avert my gaze to the floor like a child – afraid to meet eyes with Glimmer. An almost sinister look of satisfaction forms on her face, before she smirks,
"wow you really are learning Kat, congrats hon!" Abruptly, she turns back to the girl, who unexpectedly pushes herself up. Her glassy eyes meet Glimmers, and for a second they just stand, simply glaring into each other's souls. Running her bony fingers through her hair, she continues to focus on Glim, forcing the most formidable look she can come up with (which is more of sweet sass than formidable).
"Stay away from me.." she whispers, her hesitant voice shaking. Seconds after, she's gone, sprinting out the cafeteria like a cheetah. And well, that's Panem high for you. Number one rule. Don't mess with Glimmer. For her dad is the president, she can twist you from the happiest, most beautiful soul into a ball of depression with no purpose. Trust me – I've seen it happen. Cato's eyes trail after the girl and don't leave until she's out of sight; he almost seems... sorrowful. Eventually, the vexing sound of the bell wakes everyone up, as people begin wading towards their next classes.Clove POV
Shoving open the toilet door, I plonk myself on the seat, swiftly turning the lock. Tears begin to fall, quickly transforming to a stream. What have I gotten myself into? I've heard about her before, Glimmer someone called her? Bit of an odd name. But I could never imagine someone so evil; diabolical. Gingerly, I guide my hand towards the injury on my head, retrieving my hand only to discover blood-red stains. Hugging my knees, I sit and listen to the ring of the bell signalling 5th period – I'm not going though. At least not yet. I think of the tall brunette who attempted to defend me during my encounter, and of the handsome blonde glued to Glimmers side. His alluring azure eyes caused my stomach to form an array of butterflies – as well as his innocent face. What is my problem? Falling for my new nemesis's boyfriend? No, I'm not falling for him – just minor feelings. It's another hour before I convince myself to emerge from my shell. Catching myself in the mirror, I notice how blood-shot and puffy my face is – blotches of red adding to the decoration. It takes approximately ten minutes of splashing and sniffling before I come to the conclusion that I look reasonable. Hesitantly, I turn the silver handle, oddly wondering about all the germs that could've possibly been on it. But the second I step out, I have far worse problems. And slowly emerging back into the toilet really doesn't seem like an option.
