Chapter Nine: Reasons to Stay

Y/n's POV

I walked down an unknown street, honestly not caring if I got lost. East City was still unfamiliar to me and I was too busy thinking to even pay attention to my surroundings.

Every building I passed by, every child laughing or playing in the rain, every customer thanking their salesman all seemed to have faded into the background. Nothing existed.

Just plain, empty, nothingness.

I ignored a few smartasses around my age asking me who's funeral it was.

They were mocking my all black choice of clothing. I didn't even give them a glance.

They were a waste of time and energy anyway.

*BOOOOOMMM!!!!!*

The deafening sound of an explosion preceded a low rumbling.

I stopped dead in my tracks.

What the hell is going on??

"What the fuck was that?!" One of the smartasses said.

It was comming from a few blocks away. I looked one of the towns members.

My eyes widened as I understood what was going on.

Scar.

"STAY INSIDE!" I yelled instinctively.

"LOCK YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!" A few of them ignored me while the others just looked at me as if I were crazy.

I probably looked like I were on drugs...

After all, my eyes were red and thanks to the rain, nobody could tell that it was because I had been crying.

Urrggghhh...

BOOOOOOOOMMM!!!

I felt the ground shake under my feet. It was clear that this explosion was closer than the previous one. The idiots around me got scared and all ran to shelter.

What is this?!

No time, y/n.

I pulled my hood back and ran to the epicenter. I ran down an alley and into the main road. I took me a while to arrive and, when I did, I wished I had gotten there sooner.

"BROTHER!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING??!!! RUN!!!!"

Alphonse..?

"I'M NOT LEAVING YOU BEHIND IDIOT!!!"

Edward..?

When I turned around, what I saw made my heart stop.

Ed was laying there, on the ground, his automail arm gone and a tall man with tan skin and a huge X shaped scar on his forehead was right above him.

I stood there in complete and utter shock.

It was him... Scar was trying to murder him!

"If you kill me, promise me that you won't hurt my brother..."

Ed what are you doing?!

"And also a girl with h/l h/c hair and e/c eyes called y/n l/n. Please... Just promise me you won't hurt them."

The scarred man looked at him perplexed. "Her name is y/n, l/n..?" He asked in a deep husky voice. Ed nodded.

"Please..."
