somi rushed to the emergency room at chaewon's call, using a taxi.
"what happened?" she asked.
"i, he, badge, car,...sjdjd" chaewon stuttered.
after a few minutes, somi began to understand the situation. she bit her lip.
"i'm really sorry," she said. "if you need anything, just call me. i'll be right back, I'm getting abalone porridge for you."
chaewon looked at jin through the window. he was getting a shock as his heartbeat had temporarily stopped. she wanted desperately to get inside, and felt so helpless.
the doctor came out. "who are you?" he asked. "unless he's your son, grandson, cousin, aunt or girlfriend, I can't let you in."
"i'm his girlfriend," said chaewon without a second thought. well, it was more like girl friend, but whatever.
she stayed by jin's side for a day and a half, until he woke up. somi constantly brought her food.
chaewon was sleeping soundly, her head on jin's hospital bed, when he woke up.
"chaewon," he breathed out.
so she was safe.
he put his face next to her ear.
"chaechae," he said.
she opened her eyes. jin noted that they were the same hazel shade of brown, but there were red streaks in her eyes as well.
"jin," she said.
"you asshole. i have to be the one to be in this bed. why didn't you throw me to the cars and go?" she said, crying.
"because, i,"
somi burst in. "oh you're finally awake. aren't you going to apologise for making her an emotional wreck? thank you for saving her, but honestly i think she's just as hurt as you. and why is she harming herself?"
jin sighed. "I'm really sorry," he said.
somi gasped. "did he just say sorry?" she said, shocked.
the doctor came in after somi. "whoever you are, please get out. only his immediate relatives and girlfriend are allowed in."
somi gave him a look. "let's go, chaechae."
chaewon opened her mouth, and made a NO sign with her lips.
the doctor frowned. "but she's his girlfriend," he said.
the whole room went quiet.
somi internally cringed. "oh yeah, i forgot about that. see you!" she said and disappeared.
