jin smiled.
it wasn't the smile that chaewon loved. it was a scary one.

"we're not dating," he said.

"yeah, we know that. we should probably stop pretending now. I can't hold in my laughter anymore," said one of the popular girls, hysterical.

chaewon looked up, confused.

"jin?"

jin looked half cold, half determined. "chaewon, everything i've done for you is an act. the car accident was planned. she (he gestured at milo, the popular girl) drove super slow so that i wouldn't be that hurt. which is why i had no broken bones. the blood was fake."

he shook his head. "no, everything was fake. i don't love you. it was a prank. there's even a camera to record everything on my school tie so that my friends can laugh at your situation. i never loved you."

chaewon forced herself not to cry. it was what they wanted.
"okay, then. bye. i never liked you, either."

jin forced himself not to cry. "fine, then. do i look like i care?" he said, and kissed milo.

chaewon looked at them, making out - milo tugged at jin's shirt. then she ran out of the forest. she didn't care that she had no shoes. she had to get out of there.

tears streamed down her face. how could all of that have been fake? all the cuddles, kisses, his caring for her. purely for his entertainment. she felt used.

she should've known. how would jin, the most popular kid in the grade, date someone as ugly and fat as her?

she refused to believe it. this had to be a dream. she would wake up from it soon.
