Daniel's pov
It was about 4P.M. and I was in the kitchen trying to make some food for dinner. I decided to go for a simple salad. You can't mess it up, right? And at least it's healthy.
I was humming some song while finishing the dinner. I suddenly felt two familiar arms around my waist and a kiss on my neck.
"The dinner is ready babe." I said, then turned to him face to face and kissed him.
"Thank you so much, but you should rest darling." he said while caressing my face.
"I'm good." I replied but when I said it out loud I had a weird feeling in my stomach.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked almost with a fear in his voice.
"Yeah...let's eat." I said quickly, grabbed my plate of salad and sat down to the table. Jonah followed me and sat down on the stool on the opposite side of the table.
While we were eating my phone buzzed in my pocket so I took it out and looked at the screen. I almost dropped it when I saw who was the text from. The message was from Ben. My heart started to beat faster and my breathing was getting harder and harder. Jonah quickly ran to me.
"Breath deep okay? Don't think about it. Just look at me. Look into my eyes" he lifted my head up with his finger under my chin. We were looking into each others eyes without saying a word. I was slowly calming down. But then my phone buzzed again, and again and it kept going on.
Ben: WHERE ARE YOU?! YOU FUCKING IDIOT!
YOU SHOULD BE IN YOUR FUCKING ROOM AT THIS TIME!
COME BACK RIGHT NOW!!
I SWEAR IF I FIND YOU I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!!
IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU ARE ALREADY DEAD!!!
DANIEL YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!! ANSWER ME!
I couldn't take it. I grabbed my phone and smashed it into the wall and collapsed on my knees while crying my eyes out. I felt Jonah's arms around me.
"Daniel please be strong." he was almost crying too but I couldn't even hear what he was saying cause I was completely out of my mind. Not knowing what to do. Honestly for the first time in my life....I wanted...I wanted to kill myself.
"I wanna die." I said while I was still crying.
"Don't say that please." he helped me up and led me to the couch. "I promise I'm gonna try my best to make you forget about...him and everything. And I don't let you do anything bad to yourself....you can't leave me alone...I would not be able to live without you...I love you so much." he said while hugging me and placed a kiss on my cheek.
I was absolutely destroyed once again. I knew that when Ben finds out that I'm not at home at the time when I always am, he will call me or text me and of course try to find me. He's probably drunk and under the control of drugs, out somewhere searching for me with anger.
"I can't handle this Jonah... I can't." I was sobbing into his shoulder.
Jonah's pov
I felt a single tear escape from my eye. I was hugging him tightly and rubbing his back, trying to calm him down at least a little bit. But he was so broken. No wonder. I would be too. I don't know how to cheer him up and that makes me feel even worse. I don't wanna see him like this. It's breaking my heart.
After some time he was kind of calm I think. I mean he wasn't crying.
Suddenly I got a message. First it scared me that it's from Ben. But then I realized that he doesn't even know that I exist.
I checked the text and it was my mom.
Mommy: hey sweetie, i just wanted to say that i miss you and i hope you haven't forgot that tomorrow's july 16th which means ur coming to visit us
Oh my god I totally forgot about it. Holy shit....wait....I got it...that's how I'm gonna protect Daniel. Oh god. Yes! Finally I got it.
Jonah: mom can i bring someone with me?
Mommy: you wanna say that you have a boyfriend?
Jonah: yes and it would mean so much cause he's in danger
Mommy: omg why? And r you guys good?
Jonah: yea we're kinda good but i will tell u everything when we get there
Mommy: ok darling i'm looking forward to see you again after almost 4 months omg
And ofc i'm curious to see your boyfriend
Jonah: sorry i have to go now but we see each other tomorrow
Love u mom
Mommy: love you too jonah
I put down my phone and looked at Daniel who was just sitting next to me looking into nothing.
I grabbed his hand softly and he looked at me.
"I know how I'm gonna protect you" I started. "Pack your bags cause we're going to Minnesota tomorrow." he was a little bit shocked when he heard what I said but then he just nodded and slowly got up from the couch.
We were heading to his room. When we got in I opened his wardrobe and grabbed his bag.
"I'm gonna help you with it, okay?" I asked. He came closer to me and hugged me without saying anything. I hugged him back immediately and put my chin on the top of his head.
"Thank you." he whispered.
"You don't have to say anything. I promised you that I'm gonna protect you. Cause I would do anything for you. Remember that." I replied quietly. Then we pulled away and started to pack. First his clothes and stuff, after we were done with that, we went to my room.
"And what about our job?" he asked me.
"Sorry baby, I forgot to tell you, but we got a week off. So it's okay. Tomorrow is Tuesday and we're coming back on Sunday."
"I don't ever wanna come back here."
