20 - Back To Reality

Clementine

The school break is over for the students at Ericson High School, which means it's time to go back to studying and boring lessons. Some of the teens were happy, others found it a drag. Either way, everyone was in the same boat so cannot complain about it too much.
The days of high school are arguably some of the best, so make the most of it says Clementine's parents.

Due to now being March, the days are getting brighter and longer. The weather is also slightly warmer too, meaning students were starting to ditch the coats. Not Louis though, his trusty trench coat was always with him.

Clementine has spoken to Duck, her previous childhood friend, more frequently the last few weeks. Moving to a new school meant new friends but she could never leave Kenny JR behind. In the weekend following the students return, Duck and his family are coming down to visit the Everett household. He's currently located in Florida due to his fisherman dad - also known as boat God by close friends. At least there is something to look forward to this weekend.

It's lunch time for the students and everyone was doing their own thing. Mitch, Aasim and Ruby had decided to go to lunch as normal. Brody was at her study group, where she helps other students with difficult projects. Marlon and Violet are in the library, 'studying', but actually gossiping. Louis was in a state of panic, trying to finish off work that was due 20 minutes ago.

And Clementine was sat outside, alone, on a picnic bench finishing some artwork that she had started. It was of two girls - one blonde, the other brunette - stargazing and creating personality traits.
Astronomy and astrology are basically the same.

The bell rang throughout the school, signalling lunch break was over and for everyone to get to class. It was history for Clem and Marlon, meaning they would most likely be partnered together in it.

Marlon had already found his seat, just as Clem strolled into the room. "Yo, orange! Over here!" Is all she heard come from the back of the class - she didn't even have to guess who it was.

She plopped into her seat, beside the mullet blonde. "What did I tell you about that nickname?" She retorts, all whilst grabbing her correct books and stationary from her backpack.

"Orange is better than Clementine." Hr shrugs. "Besides, you call me rat boy so I call us even." Ok, fair. Before she could reply, the teacher had joined the class and quickly hushed the lunchtime chatter down.

The lesson had been going on for awhile now, but nothing overly interesting happened yet. Randomly, a scrunched up piece of paper finds it way onto Clem's desk - right in front of her hands. It's begging to be opened.

Side glancing, she saw Marlon looking at her which confirmed her suspicions that it was him who tossed the paper. Unfolding it, it had the simple words "piano boy" written on it. It didn't take a lot of brain power for her to realise who piano boy was.

Clem turns to Marlon, and sees the smug and knowing look on his face. She just wanted to knock him off his chair because of how irritating he looks. "I thought, since we are giving each other nicknames, why not give your boyfriend one too?"

That was certainly a word she was not used to hearing yet. Realising that they actually became official on their first date was still surreal to the teen - maybe it was for him too.

"Shut your face, mullet." Was the only retort Clem could come up with. How creative.

Marlon shakes his head, "Or maybe you should tell Louis to shut up. He has been talking about you all day." His tone was one of boredom.

Clem side eyes him, whilst also staying focused on the lesson, "What do you mean?" She whispers to the boy next to her, trying to be subtle.

"Oh I don't know, just that your date was one of the best days ever. And that you're basically an angel" he says whilst using air quotes showing it was Louis's exact words.

That made Clem silent, pretty much instantly, as she wasn't expecting him to be so straight up with his answer. Her face very rapidly began to feel warm - which seems is the only thing she does now a days.

Louis

Next lesson for Louis was maths, which literally no one likes. His lesson partner was Violet, lucky for him. The lessons are usually filled with laughter and doodles on scrap pieces of paper, and then hiding it before the teacher can see it, however this one was a more serious one.

"Hey Vi, how you doing?" He chirps, sounding a little too happy about being in a maths lesson.

"Gosh, do you always have to be obnoxious?" She asks, sounding sarcastic.

"Wow, I'm terribly hurt." Louis placed a hand on his chest, faking a broken heart. "But by obnoxious, do you mean awesome?" And ended with a wink.

Disgusted at male attention, Violet retorted "Your attempts at flirting are an F-, Louis"

Starting to for the situation amazing, Louis snaps back "Who's flirting? I'll have you know I am a taken man."

Violets face sported a confused look, not understanding the comment. "By taken, I hope you mean by the FBI and taken to a deserted island."

"Unfortunately for you, no. Taken as in, Clementine is my girlfriend." Louis announced with a cheery grin on his face, for everyone to see.

He added on, "She also let me kiss her, but that was after she grabbed my thigh in a McDonald's drive-through.." Whilst biting his bottom lip, trying to contain a laugh due to Vi's face.

Violet just blinks, whilst studying him. "I didn't need to know that second part." Her face practically showed her emotion - disgust and not wanting more details.
"I just hope you aren't messing Clem around, you know, since you also like someone else." Vi ends with a sigh.

Louis slightly frowns at the reminder, knowing that Vi was telling the truth. Clem didn't deserve to be messed around with, because there would always be someone worth her time.
"Don't worry, Vi. I would never want to hurt her. Fuck, she deserves the world - maybe I can't give her that.."
