Cassandra's POV

My appointment was quick, after all it was my first visit and Dr. Chandler was only trying to get our initial consultation done and answer any questions I may have had for her.  I'm scheduled for my first examination with her next week where we'll do my pap smear and breast exam. Right now I have a sheet of paper with me to get my labs done. So I'm here now on the second floor of the same building getting my blood drawn.  I pull out my phone to text Matt and ask him if he wouldn't mind picking me up before heading to Daryl's. “Of course Angel. I'll be done with work in an hour.  You can come here if you like.” A trip to the famous Carter Corp.  Why not. Maybe I'll even get to meet the man himself although I doubt he spending a lot of his time in the office with all the wheeling and dealing he must do to keep his company successful.  I text back, “Sure, that sounds like fun.” Almost immediately Matt responds, “Don't sound so enthusiastic about it.  It's just a building, nothing special. Unless you're just that happy to see your buddy Matt 😉.”  Sometimes I just can't with him, he's so full of himself, it's laughable.  It's all in good fun because I know how much he loves Sam. There is no doubt about his devotion to her and the family they are starting.  That reminds me, “Also. I ran into Sam this afternoon.  Apparently you forgot to tell me something very important.  Congratulations by the way.” As a reply I get a series of emojis “😒🙏🤗👍🤰❤”  That was Matt, full of joy, I can't help but smile at that.  For the first time today, I feel a warmth at the friendship we built and the family he was going to have and of the life he would get to have.  He was completely healed, mind and body. “I'll be there in 10 minutes” I texted back and whistled for a cab.

The drive to Carter Corp didn't take long, I really could have walked there since it is such a nice day.  Upon entering the lobby, I freeze in place. Wow, just wow! This place is immaculate and beautifully decorated.  Carter definitely has expensive taste and a good eye for style. I see Matt at the receptions desk talking to a beautiful blonde.  When he notices me standing there like an idiot gawking at the building surroundings, he approaches me with a huge smile on his face.  He bends down pulling me into a hug and says “Hey Angel. How are you?” “I'm good Matt and you? You're going to be a father. That's amazing news.”  If his smile could have gotten wider, it did at that moment. He is so proud and ready to be responsible of another person. Matt starts walking me over to the reception desk while telling me a little about how things were going between him and Sam and that pretty soon they'll be able to know the baby's gender.  He introduces me to Lisa, the pretty blonde receptionist, and tells me she is Sam's best friend. I sign in and get a visitors pass before heading to the elevator to go up to his floor. He walks me to his cubicle area and I again greet Sam for the second time today with a friendly hug. The sound of a familiar male's voice draws me away from the conversation we were having.  “Really Matt! You gotta hog all the pretty ones to yourself or are you willing to share,” Colin states as he stands near the entrance of the cubicle with a smirk on his face. “Not at all, I never share,” Matt counters. “Hey Colin, how are you?” I interject before they continue their little banter as was accustomed with those two. I watch as Colin's eyes travel the length of my body before he nobs slightly.  I had changed into blue jeans and a red crop top shirt before leaving Daryl's and apparently the look caught his eye and his approval. Colin gives a half smile before he addresses me with an answer. “Good” is all he says then he looks to Matt and asks him if he was still coming to the concert on Saturday. Matt says he was and then turns to me saying, “You should come too. You need to get out of the house more.”  It had been awhile since I did anything fun and I guess a little time away from all things Daryl might be good for me. The look on Matt's face says he thought so too and wanted me there so I agree with the determination to get out of my funk, if not for a night. It had been a two years since I watched Colin, Adam, and Doris perform on stage. Their band, Nightmareden, had gained major interest in the industry and Colin had taken some time away to pursue a solo album and tour.  The success of it was still being felt since his return and this was the first time the band was playing together. It felt like the perfect homecoming event for both Colin and I.
