"...what?"
"I said, let me join the Black Bulls!" I had repeated, shamelessly. Grinning widely without a care in the world. Yami began to stare at me with a dumbfounded look, along with the others who were staring with blank expressions.
"Euanthe?!" Noelle exclaimed, astonished with my behavior. Her pigtails stabbing upwards into the air from her disbelief. Luck smiled wider, cheering. "Yay! Let her join, Captain! I want to fight her too!"
"Ha? What is this commotion in here?" A special spacial user commented, scratching the back of his head as he came into the main room. "The base is rather upbeat today." Mumbled a pale man coming along with Finral with panda like eyes and dark lips, Gordon. Casting the silent man aside, as soon as Finral laid his droopy looking eyes on me, his eyes somehow shaped into hearts even going with an extra 'doki-doki.'
"Ooh! Who is this beautiful maiden?!" The dirty blonde blurted out excitedly, skipping over to me. I grinned sweetly to him, Finral wasn't a hard character to love after all. (Partly because of a headcannon that he would've dropped out of college too.) Yami cleared his throat, sending the spacial user a light glare. Finral squeaked and stepped away from me quickly.
The large, muscular man stepped closer to my smaller figure. He looked down at me. "And what exactly makes you think you're worthy of thinking you can be a Magic Knight? Here you come barging in, exerting no mana, and a complete stranger with no nobility or reputation at all." He questioned, his voice dropping an octave as it grew steadily threatening.
"For all I know, you could have just been some commoner who was forsaken with no mana. But unlike that anti-magic brat, you have no importance whatsoever."
My eyes widened slightly, a flash of a long forgotten memory coming back once again;
"W̶h̶a̶t̶ m̶a̶k̶e̶s̶ y̶o̶u̶ t̶h̶i̶n̶k̶ y̶o̶u̶'r̶e̶ w̶o̶r̶t̶h̶y̶ o̶f̶ b̶e̶i̶n̶g̶ p̶a̶r̶t̶ o̶f̶ t̶h̶i̶s̶ f̶a̶m̶i̶l̶y̶?"
I smiled, almost smugly grinning, staring straight ahead not yet daring enough to look the captain in the eye. "There are some people that I need to save from their future. That is my importance." I claimed firmly, straightening up my back under the intimidation of the much taller man. "There is a future I don't wish for you guys to go through as well."
"T̶h̶a̶n̶k̶ y̶o̶u̶ f̶o̶r̶ g̶i̶v̶i̶n̶g̶ m̶e̶ t̶h̶a̶t̶ c̶h̶a̶n̶c̶e̶, J̶u̶l̶i̶u̶s̶."
"V̶a̶n̶g̶e̶a̶n̶c̶e̶...! H̶o̶w̶ d̶a̶r̶e̶ y̶o̶u̶!"
"I̶ a̶m̶ L̶i̶c̶h̶t̶. W̶i̶l̶l̶i̶a̶m̶ i̶s̶ s̶l̶e̶e̶p̶i̶n̶g̶. W̶h̶a̶t̶ a̶ p̶l̶e̶a̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ t̶o̶ f̶i̶n̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ m̶e̶e̶t̶ y̶o̶u̶, Y̶a̶m̶i̶ S̶u̶k̶e̶h̶i̶r̶o̶."
Yami looked down on me, not lightening his method of intimidation whatsoever. As I slowly gained the courage to look at him eye to eye, I managed a shaky smile. "I don't have a way to prove it now, but I truly do not wish for you to go through that future I saw."
Or the 'future' I read as spoilers on Instagram...
Yami and his squad members looked at me with amused and curious expressions. Slowly, I curled my pinky and thumb, holding three fingers up as I saluted, holding my hand tightly to my chest. "You will never be able to figure the future out, so please, let me play my part. Wether I mess up the future or fix it, I can't stand around and regret not having done anything in the first place." I finalized, as I held my position firm.
I had no value in my world, I just want a purpose to be here.
A purpose I never have had.
Suddenly, the area of my forehead just above the spacing between my eyebrows began to feel light. My lime-gold colored eyes fluttered open as from my view, that area of my forehead started to glow, that torch like mark that Klaus had described. The Black Bull's members stared at me in disbelief once again, the only oddball that was Luck was the only one who was smiling widely.
"Where did this mana come from?" I heard Yami mutter, calmly stepping away.
A wide flash of light spread throughout the room, engulfing everyone's vision with pure white.
"welcoмe тo тнe ѕyѕтeм; eυanтнe ιrvιne"
A lavender tainted book with golden linings descended to me, a star made of gold spreading from the center, where an emerald colored eye glowed softly. A crimson tassel hung from the bottom end of it's spine, some type of bookmark for the grimoire.
I stared at the book, shocked and confused. "Oh shit." I whispered to myself, reluctantly reaching out to hold the grimoire. "Oh shit!" I repeated as I held the grimoire in my hands, I was evidently shaking from excitement. "I have a shiny fucking book!" I cheered, holding it up.
"Euanthe!" Two members called out, Luck and Noelle quickly came over to me. "You actually have a grimoire!" Noelle exclaimed, somehow sounding pleasantly surprised despite the fact she was the one who emphasized my lack of mana exertion back in the dungeon. Luck giggled, "Yes! You have a grimoire! Now can we fight? Can we fight?!" He chirped happily.
"Wow, that's such a pretty grimoire. I want to be her friend too. We can be best friends along with Asta and everyone in the Black Bulls." Gordon mumbled, under his breath, being unfortunately ignored as usual. Finral' s brown eyes sparkled as he slid over to flirt with me once again. "Miss Beautiful! Your grimoire is as fabulous as it's mage!" He complemented, taking my hand softly into his and placing a light kiss on the back of my palm.
I rolled my eyes and playfully smacked his calloused hand away. I then turned back to look at my grimoire intensely, observing every turn of every pattern etched onto the magical canvas of a cover.
A small oddity that had stood out to me the most was the unfamiliar signature written on the bottom right of the very first page.
"ℛℰℕᎯᏆℰ ℐℛᏉℐℕℰ;" it had read.
Little to my knowledge, Yami stared at me with growing suspicion. He took out the smoking cigarette from his mouth and began to fiddle with the cylinder object in thought.
-
"Julius, what's that other grimoire you're always holding?"
"This? This is just an old friend's. They gave this to me a long time ago, they left Clover Kingdom and decided to abandon their grimoire, therefore giving it to me!"
"Who gives away a grimoire?!"
The Wizard King turned to smile at the younger male. "I guess she wanted to spend all of her time with her daughter," He turned to look at the sky, almost longingly. He chuckled softly.
"Little Euanthe is sure to have a peaceful future with you, Renate."
-
Yami raised an eyebrow, bringing the cigarette back into his mouth as he let out a small, unhumorous chuckle. He began to walk over to the newcomer, drawing attention from his members that were freaking out over her new shiny book.
They all went quiet and let their mouths drop slightly as their captain serenely smiled. He raised a hand to pat Euanthe's sky blue head. The maiden looked up to him confusedly. He just simply smirked.
"Welcome to the Black Bulls, pipsqueak."
