The man with blond hair smiled fondly at the smaller woman, stepping back and letting her go from his grasp. "Glad you could make it! Yami usually doesn't like to chit chat about Black Bull's newcomers, so I'm quite surprised that he took a liking to you."
Euanthe raised an eyebrow. "Took a liking to me? That's bullshit." Julius' lips subtly curled up amusedly at the lady's brash mouth.
Euanthe sighed, shaking her head to shrug off what she previously had said. "Well, nevermind that. Why would your majesty the 'Wizard King' call me?"
The Wizard King smiled, looking over to Marx and flicking his hand, signaling him to leave them be. The advisor with odd blue hair obeyed and began to head down the stairs, leaving the two alone.
"Euanthe, I've heard from a little bird that you have quite the interesting grimoire." He started.
Euanthe wore a bemused expression, looking at the Wizard King in a daze. "Interesting? Sure it's pretty, but that's pretty much it? There's really nothing but blank pages in it through and through."
The Wizard King's smile faltered, his eyes saddening to some degree. "Can I see it?"
Euanthe nodded, hesitatingly reaching for her grimoire. In the process of handing the magical book over, she paused.
"Wait, you are the Wizard King, right? Like, legit? You aren't Ryha?"
A couple moments of silence were shared between the two, the man staring blankly at the smaller girl.
The Wizard King began to snicker, "Bold of you to assume I'd be replaced by some imposter!" He commented as his snickering slowly began to die down.
The blue haired maiden looked to him confusedly, mumbling, "I mean, villains pretty much have plot armor so..."
The man with blond hair shook his head dismissively. "Forgive me, it's not everyday a young maiden such as yourself asks me such an odd question."
Euanthe smiled nervously. Ah, me and my big, ever yapping mouth, what would I ever do without you?
Gently, the Wizard King lifted the book from Euanthe's hands, flipping the grimoire open only to see blank pages as Euanthe had mentioned before.
Frowning slightly, the Wizard King flipped over to the very first page, widening his eyes at a particular signature.
"ℛℰℕᎯTℰ ℐℛᏉℐℕℰ;"
For a small while, the Wizard King simply just stared at the signature with pure shock and bewilderment.
Euanthe stared at him in confusion, after waiting patiently for a few seconds, she began to grow impatient.
As an attempt of trying to grasp the man's attention, she waved her hand in front of the Wizard King's face.
"Uh, you good there, buddy?"
As if snapping out of a trance, Julius had returned from his bewildered gaze. He cleared his throat and shut the grimoire. His polite smile plastering itself on his face once more.
His eyes softened when he looked down on Euanthe. "It's just as I thought." He said, raising his hand and resting it atop the maiden's head.
"A maiden with no magic, yet, this grimoire is undeniably special."
Well, that's being super vague. Thanks. Euanthe thought with sarcasm, internally rolling her eyes. "Is there something you know about that grimoire?"
Julius sadly smiled, giving a slight nod. He handed back the grimoire to its user. "This grimoire was the reason why I asked for you to come to the capital."
"...really, what's so special about it?"
"An old and very, very special friend of mine had once owned this grimoire." He started. "Her name was Renate, the previous Maiden of the Oracle."
Uh, what? Is this really Black Clover or some badly written isekai fanfiction?!
"What exactly is this Maiden of the Oracle? It's been confusing me for a while."
Julius turned to begin heading up the spiral staircase, inclining the younger girl to follow him. "The Maiden of the Oracle had predicted various devastating events. Wether it be a major disaster, a plague, or maybe even a war. The Maiden was the reason why the Wizard King was able to defeat that demon in the first place."
Euanthe raised an eyebrow at this.
Mary Sue-ish but okay.
"Many, if not everyone, believes the Oracle Maiden to have disappeared immediately afterwards when the Wizard King defeated that demon." Julius paused, looking to the corner of his eye.
"But, the Oracle Maiden never truly disappeared, she returned to the realm she had come from and had descendants of her own. Renate, was one of her descents who had received her power. She had come back here to fulfill her legacy."
"Wait." Euanthe said aloud, pausing Julius from continuing. "How do you know all of this? Does anybody else know of this?"
Descendants?
Julius cheerlessly smiled, getting to the end of the stairs. "Renate had explained all of this to me personally beforehand, unfortunately, she had to return to her home."
Euanthe stayed silent, buried deep with her thoughts. She looked up to Julius' back, her eyes slightly dulling over as a contrasting sarcastic upbeat tone of voice echoed from her.
"I was adopted."
Julius completely stopped in his tracks, stopping in the middle of the hallway.
He turned to look down at Euanthe with a stunned silence and widened eyes.
Euanthe chuckled humorlessly with some darker undertone. "With everything you explained, are you saying that this 'Renate' is my supposed-"
"Mother." Julius finished for her, turning back around to continue walking.
Euanthe looked up to Julius in surprise, widening her emerald eyes. Oop. Wow, that was surprisingly straightforward.
"Oh."
But as if I'll ever believe that, but still, this is a surprisingly detailed dream for someone who's pretty much dead. Euanthe thought to herself, quietly observing Julius from behind.
"Is Renate... is she-"
"Dunno." The young woman answered quickly, picking up on the painful question the man was unable to convey.
Julius stayed silent for a moment before giving a slight nod. He stopped in front of two fancily carved out doors, pressing down on both of the swirled knobs to open it and then stepped aside.
Euanthe took a small and curious peek inside. "What's this?"
Inside, the room had a large royal sized bed with draped curtains on the side. There was a simple but cute little desk in the corner along with a shelf of books on the side. A large portion of the wall was a vast window with a little couch and pillows right next to it.
"This is where you will be staying."
"Oh, that's nice- Wait, what?"
