People say it's not right
People say I don't deserve it
I don't understand
I've lived like this for so long
That I see it as the norm
Neglect
Abuse
These words get tossed around
While the words my mother engraved in me come to mind
Remember, we are a happy family
Remember, we are the perfect family
Remember, this is just parenting
Are these words just shields?
Or are they the truth
Am I being treated right?
Is this what a family is?
