A small shrub behind Ellie moved and a whole watermelon rolled out from within it. "Food!" Ellie, Brooke and Shira said together at the same time but before Ellie could get to it A Dodo bird poked it's head out of the shrub and picked up the watermelon in her beak and ran off. Ellie, Brooke and Shira followed the strange bird and soon enough found it again but there wasn't just one of them but a whole flock of them and they were marching chanting about the end of the world.
I don't know but I've been told." The lead bird chanted
"I don't know but I've told." The rest of the flock repeated the leader with the chants
"End of the world be mighty cold." The leader chanted again
"End of the world be mighty cold." The rest of the flock repeated their leader
"Prepare for the Ice Age." The leader yelled out to the rest of her flock below her.
"Protect the Dodo way of life!" She yelled again
"Survival separates the Dodo from the beast."
The rest of the flock repeated their leaders words all together
"Protect the Dodo way of life."
"Prepare for the Ice Age."
"Ice Age?" Brooke said questioningly to Shira
"I've heard of these crackpots." Shira said to the other two.
Whilst putting the melon back on the tree stump that had two other watermelons on it. The dodo that had taken the watermelon before noticed the shadows of Ellie, Brooke and Shira.
"Intruders" The Dodo said as she ran off to alert the leader
"Now don't fall in" another Dodo told three younger ones whilst standing over a hot steaming tar pit. "Intruders" The Dodo carried on gobbling as she ran but she didn't see the tar pit and fell in. As she landed in the hot sticky tar below a hiss was heard and smoke rose up for the four Dodo's to see.
"Burn and die." The older one said
"Can we have our melon back Junior's hungry and..." Ellie asked the older Dodo who had been standing above the tar pit.
"No way." She said whilst running towards Ellie. "This is our private stockpile for the Ice Age." She said back to Ellie. Standing in the middle of the three melons on the tree stump the other members of the flock gathered around her.
"Subarctic temperatures will force us underground for a billion years."
"So you got three melons" Ellie said back disbelievingly
"If you weren't smart enough to plan ahead then doom on you." The Lead Dodo said standing on one of the melons.
The rest of the flock chanted whilst cornering the three mammals.
"Doom on you, Doom on you, Doom on you.
Get away from me" Ellie said to the flock but they continued to chant
"Doom on you." The lead Dodo fell of off the melon and it rolled straight over to Brooke who put the baby down and the baby held the melon.
"Owe no, no.
Retrieve the melon tae kwoon dodo's attack!" The leader shouted at her flock and with that the rest of the flock emerged kicking out their legs in a supposed threatening way.
One Dodo flipped over to the Baby and kicked the melon away from him and into the beak of another member of the flock who threw to another member, who threw it to another who threw it to the leader of the flock standing at the top of the cliff who stupidly threw the melon down it.
