Ellie Brooke and Shira continued on their journey to return the human baby back to it's father as the conditions of the weather got worse and soon Glacier Pass will be closed up with snow with no means of getting through or back till summer comes around again and melts the snow.
"Let's get you all cleaned up. What is your Daddy gonna say if you go back all stinky." Brooke told the baby
"Let me just clean that up. That looks good. A little bit there." Brooke said as she licked her paws and cleaned the baby.
"You clean up nice little fella." Ellie said as she took Brooke's paw away from the baby.
"I think he's starting to look like me." Brooke told Ellie and Shira.
"Shira, what do you think?" Brooke asked.
"Maybe we shouldn't do this." Shira said
"Why not?" Brooke asked back.
"If we save him, he'll be a hunter and who do you think he'll hunt?" Shira asked Brooke and Ellie.
"Maybe because we saved him, he won't hurt us." Brooke said to Ellie and Shira.
"Yeah, and maybe he'll grow fur and a long skinny neck and call you mama!" Shira shouted at Brooke who backed away from her.
"What's your problem?" Ellie asked Shira
"Nothing, let's go, I'm freezing my tail off." Shira said as she continued forward.
Just behind Shira, Ellie and Brooke Shira's pack watched as they got closer to the planned attack zone.
"Hey Shira, you frozen back there?"
"Get down!" Shira shouted at Brooke and Ellie.
"Hu?" Brooke said
"What" Ellie also said.
"Get down and follow me." Shira told the two.
"Hey, hey what's going on?" Brooke questioned Shira
"At the bottom of Half Peak there's an ambush, waiting for you." Shira said sadly to the two mammals.
"What?" Brooke asked confused
"What do you mean ambush." Ellie asked
"you set us up." Ellie said angrily to Shira.
"It was my job?" Shira told the two
"It was to get the baby, but then." Shira said sadly
"You brought us home for dinner." Ellie said dissapointedly and angrily
"That's it, you're out of the herd!" Brooke shouted at Shira.
"I'm sorry." Shira pleaded.
"No you're not!" Ellie angrily said as she pressed Shira up against a rock with her tusk. "Not yet." she threatened.
"Listen, I can help you." Shira said through struggled breaths
"Stay close Brooke. We can fight our way out." Ellie told Brooke.
"You can't the packs too strong. You have to trust me." Shira struggled to say.
"Trust you?!" Ellie yelled angrily as she pushed Shira harder against the wall with her tusk almost cutting of her breathing. "Why in the world would we trust you?"
"Because i'm your only chance." Shira said with difficulty.
After being let go by Ellie Shira approached her pack resting on the rocks above the ground.
