On returning to his office, Isaac met the door ajar, which meant only one thing; his younger sister, Lois was around. She had the habit of never closing a door. He went in and there she was, seated on his seat, flipping through the pages of his sketch pad. She must have sensed his presence because she looked up and pointed at one of the skirts he'd designed.
"Isaac, I love this skirt!"
"Hello to you too," Isaac took a seat opposite her. He knew better than to ask her to let him have his seat; she'd never agree to that.
"I so much love this skirt. Please, let me have one." She said, ignoring his hello.
"Hmmm." He played with his stubble. "Do you know how much that costs?"
"Please."
"Three thousand naira."
"Please." She gave him a pleading look.
"Alright. I'll have the workers give you one."
"Thank you. Thank you very much." She squealed.
Lois had her way of getting anything she wanted from Isaac. He loved her so much; he could hardly say no to her.
"Hey, you still left the door ajar."
"I did?" She smiled as she glanced at the door. "Don't mind me. I thought I closed it."
That was her constant excuse.
"Maybe we should start putting reminders on the doorposts, specifically for you." Isaac pulled a funny face.
Lois burst out laughing. "Come on. I'm not that bad."
"Come to think of it. Why didn't I see you enter the office?"
"How would you have seen me when you were so engrossed in your discussion with Stephanie." Lois rolled her eyes.
Lois didn't like Stephanie either. There were times Stephanie had tried to befriend her, but Lois was always successful at avoiding people. Isaac smiled as he remembered how she had been one of the most mischievous truants in high school.
"Hmm. You're smiling." She gave him a teasing look. "Something's up between you and her right? I thought you didn't like her."
"No." Isaac rose his hands in surrender. "Nothing's up between us. We're just friends. Trust me."
"Hmmm." She gave him a look that said he should better not think of hiding things from her.
Isaac smiled. "Seriously." He said.
She laughed. "Did I say anything?"
"So, to what do I owe this visit?" Isaac sat straight.
"I think you've forgotten that my wedding is in two months."
"No, I haven't. It's right here." He picked up his diary and began flipping pages.
"Hey, you don't need to show me." She placed her hand over his. "I knew you didn't forget. That was just a way of making my request."
"What request?"
"I don't have a wedding gown yet."
"That's easy. Check our collection. Pick anyone you want."
"I already did that."
"And?"
"They weren't designed by you."
"Who told you that?"
"Oh, come on. I'll know your designs anywhere I see them. They are as unique as your face."
