For the rest of the night I tried to take the thought of Max and Harvey fighting out of my head, it was driving me insane and I couldn't deal with it anymore. As soon as I woke up it was the first thing that came into my head. There was something about these two boys that made me suspicious of who they really were, and I needed to figure it out because I didn't want to get hurt.
Remembering that Harvey gave me his phone number when I was walking home with him, I grabbed my phone and texted him to see if I  could walk to school with him. "Yeah, come round whenever you want this morning, I'd love to walk to school with you."
As I crossed the road I could see into the front window of the Mills' house. It was the same window that I saw Max and Harvey arguing through. My heart was trying to stop me from knocking on the door, and I hesitantly reached up, pushing out all of the thoughts telling me not to go in. But before I could knock someone opened it, causing me to fall into the hallway and make a complete fool of myself. "Hey Leah!" I heard a high pitched, childlike voice calling my name as I lay on the floor. I looked up and saw a little girl peering over me, smiling. "I'm Tilly, Max and Harvey's sister. Max has told me a lot about you."
"He has?" I stood up quickly out of confusion, because if anybody was to talk about me it would be Harvey, because Max didn't like me, he wouldn't even talk to me. "Yeah. He said you were pretty, and he wasn't lying, you're really pretty." The flood of feelings I had yesterday for Max rushed through me again, making me feel faint, and I grabbed hold of the banister on the stairs. Max thought I was pretty? She must have been lying like all little kids do.
"Aww he did? Thank-"
"Hey guys what's up?!" I was interrupted by Harvey shouting while running down the stairs. He stayed on the first step and fixed his hair, looking at me with his wide, curious eyes. "Me and Tilly were just talking, that's all." I don't know why I hid the information about Max, it didn't feel right. "Oh ok, Leah you can head into the living room, I've just gotta sort out my bag, I'll be back down in a minute." He ran back upstairs and I was lead into the living room by Tilly. It was so homely, the grey sofas welcomed me into the house, and gave me a sense of comfort. I looked out the window, which instantly reminded myself of what happened the day before. I saw Max sitting on the sofa, and there was something different about him. To start with I couldn't figure out what it was. "Hey Max," I called to him, in hope for a response that I knew was unlikely for me to receive. He looked up to me, and I instantly figured out what was different about him. "Max... your eye!" I ran up to him and sat down up close to him, and he looked at the floor, worried about what I thought about him. I pulled his head up by his chin and examined his eye. But then I realised. The arguing, and the black eye. There had to be a connection. I covered my mouth with my hand and tears trickled down my face. I didn't mean for this to happen, but the feelings for Max over took me. He looked at me with sympathy, and for the first time he spoke to me without being forced by Harvey. "Leah, what is it?" He grabbed my arm but quickly regretted his decision and pulled away. "I know about your argument with Harvey last night. I saw you two through the window. Harvey did this to you?" Every word I spoke pained every inch of my body. I struggled to push my words out, but I managed to with force. "No, he didn't. Dylan did, but I'll let Harvey explain, I-I-I'm not good with words." He quickly ran off and I heard his footsteps getting quieter as he ran upstairs. Why was Dylan here? And why was he hurting Max?
