Straight after Olivia text me she sent me the picture. It was Max with a girl, and from what I knew of I was pretty sure it was Ava, a girl from their old school. They were kissing, but they were in their old school uniform, so it could have been taken a long time ago, right? I texted Olivia back and said "Are you sure this wasn't from a while ago?" She quickly replied with "I asked Harvey about it and he said they never officially broke up, and that he forgot they were actually still together. You need to talk to Max about this, I don't want you getting hurt."
I found Max's contact in my phone and asked him to come over. Ten minutes later there was a knock on the door.
I let him in and a tear instantly ran down my face as soon as I saw him. He looked so perfect, but I was afraid he was hiding something from me. "What's up, why did you want me to come over? Is something wrong?"
"When were you planning to tell me you had a girlfriend?" I got the picture up on my phone and by this point my tears were flooding down my face. "Look Leah-" I interrupted him with anger.
"Harvey told Olivia you never officially broke up with Ava. Which means you're still together. And you've been lying to me. Is being anxious just one of your schemes to break the hearted the first girl you see? I don't understand why you would walk all over me like this."
"She means nothing to me anymore!"
"That's what they all say Max. I've been hurt before, and I'm not planning on getting hurt by you." I looked down at the floor and he grabbed my chin, forcing me to look up at him. He wiped my eyes and looked at me with concern. "Last year we were together. She made me more anxious, she made me want to skip school just to avoid her. We never officially broke up because she was already with someone else. It just broke off. We moved down here the day after she told me she had been with someone else for 6 months. She really means nothing to me Leah. Nothing. I promise you. You're the only girl for me. What I feel for you I never felt for her. I wasn't happy with her, I didn't truly love her, and she was only with me for the popularity. Believe me, please." A tear came down his face and he grabbed my hands. I pulled him into a hug and we stood there for a while. Honesty was the one thing that I needed, and I trusted him enough to know that he was telling the truth. I texted Olivia back and told her everything was sorted so she didn't get worried, and me and Max watched films for the rest of the evening because my parents were out.
"So about us. Where is this going? Are we a couple orrrr.." Max said to me confidently when I was laying on him as we were watching Deadpool. I looked up at him and smiled "yeah, I guess so. But only if you want to be."
"Of course I do, you're the best thing that's ever happened to me. I want to be with you for the rest of my life."
And we were together for the rest of our lives. Harvey and Olivia stayed together as well, and we went out together all the time. We never saw Dylan again. He was invited to our wedding, but he was still embarrassed by himself, even ten years later after the incident, so he didn't show. For the rest of our lives we looked back on the first day we met. The day Olivia two famous boys were coming to sixth form. The day Harvey tapped me on the shoulder and Max stood away from me. The day I knew I was going to be with Max forever. The day I met two boys.
