As her eyes flickered open, Angella saw the black fade into white. Squinting at the new, unfamiliar light, she looked around. She'd seen places like this before, but she couldn't think where. When she lifted her hand, she saw a tube in it. What is this place? She thought. It can't possibly be Hell, it's too bright... But it's not Heaven. Angella was too confused, and strangely exhausted. She sat up a little straighter and leaned back. At least she was comfortable.
Then, a woman walked into the room, wearing a long white coat."Ah." She said. "You're awake."
"What is this place?" Angella asked her.
"You're in hospital, love. I'll just go and tell the doctor you're awake. He'd like to speak with you." Angella nodded, although she was still confused. Why was she in hospital? Hospital where? Not in Heaven, surely?
The woman came back, a few moments later, with a big friendly smile and a tall man, also wearing a long white coat. "This is the doctor, love. He'd like to ask you some questions." Angella nodded again.
"Hello, sir." She said politely.
"Hello. I'd like to ask your name, if that's alright?" The doctor said.
"It's..." Angella frowned.
"It's alright." The doctor said, softly. "Just take your time."
"Ang... Angella... Flen." Angella said. "My name's Angella Flen."
"Oh, that's a lovely name!" The woman exclaimed.
"Angella, do you remember what happened the other night?" The doctor asked her.
"When?"
"The night before last, you were found unconscious on 5th Broad Street." The doctor explained. "It's alright if you don't, but can you remember what happened that night?"
"Um..." Angella thought for a minute. "I left."
"Left where?" The doctor asked.
"My home. I walked out."
"And then what happened, Angella?"
"I fell. It hurt." Angella scowled, at nothing in particular.
"Do you remember how you fell?" Angella's head snapped round, to look at the doctor. Then she looked him in the eye and shook her head, innocently. "If you remember anything else, just shout. Okay?" Angella nodded, as the doctor got up and started to walk away.
"Sir!" The doctor stopped and turned around. "Where am I?" The doctor smiled.
"Shelfordshire Hospital."
"Where's that?"
"In the United Kingdom, do you not remember?" Angella shook her head. "Alright. Well, you rest up now." Angella nodded. "I'll come back to see you later. The he turned and walked away. He left.

"Thank you, Billy." Said the police man, as they walked out of the questioning room. "You've been very helpful to us."
"Billy, why don't you go and sit in the waiting room for a minute, while I speak to the police man." Said Billy's mother. Billy nodded and ran off to the waiting room. "What do you think, officer?" She asked.
"Well, Miss Carpenter, it seems to me that your son knew this girl quite well, so we'll contact you when she wakes up, and he can go and visit her."
Just then, another police man put the phone down. "Turner!"
"Yes Sergeant?"
"The girl's awake. Says her name's Angella Flen."
"Thank you, Sergeant." The police man turned to Billy's mother. "Would you like a lift to the hospital, Miss Carpenter?"

Angella looked up as the doctor walked in, followed by two men, a woman and a young boy.
"Hello, Angella." Said the doctor.
"Who are these people, sir?" Angella asked, half confused, half scared.
"Angella?" Said one man. "I'm DCI Turner. This is Sergeant Banks, Miss Carpenter, and her son, Billy Carpenter." DCI Turner pointed to each person as he said their names.
"Angella, I'd like to ask you some questions." Said Sergeant Banks.
"Okay." Angella said, nodding.
"First of all, what do you remember?"
"What sort of things do you want me to remember?"
"Anything. Names, including your own, places, actions, events. Any little thing that you can remember, I want to know about."
"Well... My name is Angella Flen. I know about God and Jesus. I can remember leaving my home and walking away, then I fell down. My shoulders hurt, and then everything went black."
"Nothing more?" Angella shook her head. "That's all you remember?" Angella nodded. "Who's your family?"
"I don't know."
"Friends?"
"I don't know."
"Where do you live?"
"I don't know."
"Miss Flen?.." Billy stepped forwards. "I'm Billy Carpenter." He told her. "You helped me once at school. I was sad and you made me happy again. Do you remember?"
"No. I'm sorry, Billy." Billy dropped his head, then stepped back, to stand next to his mother again. All of a sudden, she froze and blinked once. "I remember your smile. It felt good to see you smile." Billy looked up and smiled at Angella then, and that made Angella smile, too.
