The next morning, Angella awakened with a saddened heart. Last night's memories had disheartened her greatly, but they also helped her to understand why she was on Earth.
She had helped Billy through the toughest times he'd ever experienced.
His dad had been rushed into hospital, undergone an operation, and died five days later. Billy hadn't seen his dad since the year before, and wasn't allowed to see him in hospital, AND he was the last person in his whole entire family to be told about the death of his father. Billy was heartbroken. He didn't attend school for a week. Suspicions arose among his classmates. When he returned to school, the truth was told, and one of the boys began to bully Billy. Billy was then expected just to deal with the funeral. How could that be expected of such a small boy? "He was only six, bless his heart." Angella told herself.
She needed to go back to Billy.
She had to tell him that everything would be alright.
That nothing would ever hurt him again.
Except that wouldn't be true, would it, Angella? She asked herself. Of course it wouldn't. Lots of things were still to come. Lots of things would hurt him. Lots of things.
This was why she didn't want to go back to Billy. She wanted to lie. If she did lie to him, then he would find out that she lied, and he would hate her. He'd never want to speak to her again. Never want to see her again.
And it was this selfishness that put her on Earth... Or so she thought.
But she wanted... needed... to see Billy.
She decided to wait. She didn't want to go back too soon. So she stayed by that tree for another week, until her need got the better of her...
Angela stood, waiting patiently at the Carpenters' front door. It was the first time she'd properly noticed the door. It wasn't as if it was the same as all the other doors on the street. They were all white. They were plain. This one should have stuck out like a sore thumb... but it didn't. It was red, with two black panes, but none of the passers by stopped to admire it's uniqueness. No one stared. No one noticed this door. Not even Angella... until now. However, her thoughts were foggy, as she heard two words echoing in the back of her head. "My angel" Subconsciously, she dropped her head and whispered "This is the one." Just as the door opened and she walked inside, she heard two more words, before everything went silent and black "get him".
