"Kristennn" Daniel dragged, opening his door of his apartment. "Hi Sophia" he smiled to my mom
"Hello Daniel she said as we walked in and she went immediately to help Keri in the kitchen.
Last week our parents met and it's like our moms are best friends. They can talk and laugh for hours.
Ever since that night a few weeks ago I havebt left my apartment except for school, Daniel came over almost everyday and when he wouldn't, he would pick me up and I would go over to his.
"Everyone's in my room" Daniel said as he closed the door behind me.
"you didn't tell them, right?" I asked as we walked to his room
"Not a single thing, but they know not to ask anything" he said
I walked in and saw Reese, Isla, and Svea laying on Daniels bed giggling as their older brothers tickled them. Anna, Esther, Ava, and Sydnie were sitting on the floor lined up against the back wall and Corbyn was sitting at the wall right across from the girls.
"Kristen!" Sydnie yelled as she ran up to me and gave me a huge hug.
"I missed my twin so much" she said
"I missed you too" I hugged back
Sydnie went back to Pennsylvania after a few days of visiting, then came back with her family when they moved.
Sydnie was one of the only people that understood how I felt at all times. Her and I feel the same almost all the time.
Everyone else came up and started to hug around Sydnie and I forming a group hug.
Once we all let go everyone made their way back to their spots, the boys joining Corbyn against the wall leaving their little sisters in peace.
I went and sat with the girls right in between Sydnie and Anna.
The conversation in the room started again between the two groups.
"So between them" Ava motioned over to the guys "Daniel is the middle one based on their age. And between us, so is Kristen"
"Oh" I said not knowing what to say
"And so..." Anna started keeping her voice barely above a whisper.
Before continuing she motioned for us to make a circle and so we did.
She leaned closer and continued "I'm one thousand percent sure my brother likes you" she said
"Wow are you sure? One thousand is a big percentage" I said
"Sweetie, you must be blind if you can't see that" Esther said
"He'll probably comment like a heart or something cute in your next post, I don't doubt it" Sydnie said
"He won't, I highly doubt he will" I argued
"Bet" the four girls said loudly causing the guys to look over at us in confusion.
"Continue your conversation, don't mind them" I said
Just then Tyler, Daniels oldest brother, comes into the room announcing that the food is ready at the dining table.
We all scramble off the floor and the bed and make a line at the bathroom to wash our hands.
Once we're all at the large table we say a prayer and start to eat.
I look around at everyone around me grabbing what they want to eat with smiles on their faces as they laugh at the conversations that have begun. Never would I have thought that I would be sitting here at Thanksgiving with 5 families that care for and love each other so much that they're basically all a whole family.
I'm glad enough to say that they've welcomed my mom and I into their family as well. This may make me sound like a horrible person but I'm happy my parents aren't together anymore. I wouldn't be here if they were. These people make me genuinely happy.
"Hey, you okay?" Daniel lowly asked from beside me
I looked over at him before answering. "Yeah, I am" I smiled a true, genuine smile.
For the first time I'm able to say that I'm okay. I still may not be in the best state of mind or heart, but for now, in the moment, I'm fine.
Daniel smiled before he handed over a non meat dish.
"My mom made this specifically for you" He said "I told her you're vegetarian"
"Thank you, Daniel" I smiled.
He held the dish as I served myself before he put it down.
We joined the conversation going on between the younger people as we started to eat. This is by far the best Thanksgiving I will ever have.
