Upon the thundering crackles of the woodlands, I dare take flight. The storm has not let up, the Ra'zac have been hunting me for the past three days. They've hunted humans for a millenia, why now dragons? Who knew they had grown so bold. They know im about to reach the edge of Du Weldenvarden, yet the ferocity in which they have persisted is beyond explanation. No doubt they have brought their mounts the Lethrblaka.
They are indeed so bold to cross one of the remaining great-grand-daughters of Belgabad. He does not stir as much, high in his mountain in the Spine. Even the Urgals fear his roars. How could the Ra'zac know im here to deliver my youngling to the Riders? Most wild dragons dont agree that we give the Riders our eggs. "They have enough dragons bonded to riders to produce offspring. They do not need our eggs as well." Foolish and arrogant we have grown in these years of peace. I have my faith in the Riders, yet we are too proud and ignorant. They have flourished and our future is tied to their continued strength and growth. Even my mated, a Dragon bonded to a rider, believes our youngling has a future with the Riders. Where he wont be seen as weak or an outcast as my kind would assume through Lineage. It will hurt to watch him grow from afar but I know he will do great things for our race. And one day the descendants of Belgabad will be considered a fine addition to the Dragon Riders. Even one day be the bridge among the wild dragons and the Dragon Riders as they were from the beggining.
Suddenly a swift force flanks me from the left and I crash through the trees. The smell of rotting flesh I should have been able to smell at a distance. The Lethrblaka descends and lands on the glen across from the trees I crashed into.
"There is no need for such foolish venture we know how tired you are.Come dragon, give us the egg", screeches the Razac
"We will let you get to Sílthrim once we have the egg, we know you do not wish to keep it."
There he was mistaken, my conviction to see this through was my driving force. One that would rival the roars of a thousand thundering dragons. I refused to go down like this. I threw myself head first and tore at the Lethrblaka's exposed neck. Stunned it slumped dead. The Ra'zac screeched a dreadful scream as its mother died. Then another snap came at me, from an enraged mate. I did not sense it creep up on me. It scratched my left rear talon and the pain was unbearable. Then pecked on my skull, I could feel my head vibrate and everything seemed off place for a second. Then he crashed me into a rock that was in the middle of the glen. I was about to die, I had failed, my youngling would never see the Riders or be what I had hoped. Requesting strength from the ancestors, I lunged foward once more. Then came a pulse throughout myself and I shimmered through a veil I had not noticed before. Suddenly I was across the glen to the other side, where the trees began once more, the Ra'zac was stunned and the Lethrblaka almost stumbled into the rock in the glen, as it had tried to slam into me. I took advantage and flew and grabbed the foul creature with my talons. With a pre-ordained faith, felt the pulse and the veil took us in into the storm as we began to fall. Both parent and child fell scared and disoriented as I released a fire of pink flames all over them, never once releasing them. The Lethrblaka, not willing to give in, turned and snapped at me once more. I decided to fly and let them continue to fall. Then I saw the Lethrblaka hit the stone in the glen with a resounding crack. The Razac's wails at the death of their parents were full of empty hope. I had cost them something... what? I did not know. I flew approaching the city. As I saw the barrier of magic I pulsed once more and through it I went. As I felt a mental contact from the protector. he was almost stunned. If not for the utter hurt in his pride showing itself in his grim tone.
"I did not detect you crossing the barrier, what is it you want dragon."
My thoughts went quickly to the only contact I had "Contact Draven and his Rider and let him know I am here."
Almost suddenly a resounding crack hit me and I saw the lightning bolt come right at me. I tried to pulse myself a new veil, but it still came through. And I continued to fall for what seemed hours and then nothing. Upon waking I felt a great pain. Impossible! I have yet one more day until I can lay my egg. Almost instantly the egg came out of me and I saw a beutiful amethyst Purple egg, no more than a few inches across and twelve inches long, fall into the grass. Then I felt a thought contact me as I placed the egg near my eyes never letting it out of my sight. As I drew my last breath I told him.
"Draven, take care of him. Long live the Legacy of Belgabad the Great, and Raugmar the Black, our father."
