Everyone has done well on their test. I can only ask the ancestors to guide me in my test. Kveyk speaks to me, Don't worry you have gotten better. I reply, Easy for you to say. Did you even show Glaedr your trick? You could've upstaged Dauth. His response on cue It would be useless to reveal it when it could save us. Better to keep my own abilities secret than reveal them. Especially when I cant control them. Dragons are vulnerable to eyes. Even if their claws and fire may tear down a hundred fortresses. Its best my foes do not know what to study about me. I reply back amused by his idea of playing off his power. You may not seem so boring if you had shown it off to Adurnarissa. He also seems amused as he replies, Just like you dont want Killian to see your new offense skills. Do it and impress the warrior. Only then maybe i'll reveal my secret one day to Adurnarissa. He knows the mental wall hes pushed me against. Before I reply Oromis says "You are last Damien of House Tormunora."
I step up as he continues "Let us begin." I take my sword out and put protections spells on the edges.
I look at Killian with fear and he gives me that reassuring smile. The smile sends me reeling back to the night after my first lesson. When my brother showed up to where the houses are set up for the Riders. His rage and disgust spewing at me as he yelled "You dont deserve that Dragon! It must be as much of a spaz as you are. I will tell our parents to convince Uncle Vrael to see how useless you are. Wait and see when I have my dragon! I will fly to Vroengard and show everyone you don't deserve to be one of us!" Just as he was about to punch me Killian threw himself at him and pinned him down. "Apologize now!!" I was in shock. My brother sneered, "Now this little warrior thinks he can protect you. As usual Damien you have others fighting for you, coward!" Then Killian swiftly throws a punch before my brother can retalliate. Then Killian holds his shoulder firmly and sends my brother to sleep. Killian and Bastian both take him and leave him on the palace steps. I look one last time at what used to be home. I realize now that its never really been home. Home is back in the treehouses by the lake with Kvek and everyone else. As we leave Kvek singes his boots and says when he wakes up he will think he got to drunk by the bonfires and staggered his way back. Killian says "Looks like me and Kvek are on the same page, thank the dragons he chose you." Bastion also says. "I may not know you but I am very happy you are here with us and not that Brat. We will be here for you, no one hurts one of our own." As we walk back Killian fllashes me with a smile of things will be ok.
I snap out of it as Oromis comes at me with his sword. I slash at the right shoulder and he blocks it. I spin the sword and slash his left side. Continuously hitting his block with the mommentum of the blade. He shifts right letting the spin take me and he stabs towards my abdomen. I let the spinning sword propel me backwards and the block sends his sword reeling back. I swing at his hip to slash across. He does a half-spin upwards and sends my sword upwards and behind me. This forces me to loose my balance. He slashes at my upper left shoulder seeing another chance. I let myself summersault backwards. I block his hit as we end up blade to blade crossed and still. Oromis seems impressed. Killian looks happy but worried, As if I just did better than him. Shurgging it off I hear Oromis say "Next is Magic." He throws a fireball at me. I yell Kvekvya. Two blots of lightning slice through them. As if a piece of hot metal was slicing the gemstones of the dwarves. Secondly he throws the water balls. The lightning disperses the water into an ebbing flowing spiderweb. The lightning controls it. Or am i controlling it? Finally Oromis suspecting I can control the flow of lightning, throws 3 huge stones. The fear rushes to me. I think of Kvek and everything I have learned. I deserve to be here. This momment belongs to me. I throw my sword instinctively and charge it with lightning. It cuts through all the first two stones and sinks into the third one. The holes in the other two stones still molten hot. And the last one cools and becomes hard diamond still retaining the lightning and having a purple inner glow. Oromis says well done Vrael would be proud indeed. Kvek goes into my mind and says I think you broke Killian-warrior's face. I look and he has this look of pure astonishment. He quickly acts as if I didn't see it and I have never felt so satisfied.
