Chapter 10: First stop Illeria

As soon as we were done Oromis said it was time to prepare to leave and meet him the next day. As I waited for the sunrise I though of how painful it was to say goodbye to my childhood home.

Kvek lets me know immediately

We will be back. Unless they have a lake with much more tasty fish.

I tell him

It hurts to leave, but "this", going with all of you is the best thing ever.

Kvek with a nostalgic tone in his voice

Indeed it feels as if the greatest adventure awaits us beyond the forest.

Killian swoops in on Adurnarissa. Letting her flap her wings to hit us with the morning mist of water. He jumps off excited.

"You will have to teach all those riders about spinning swords. We will be the greatest dragon riders in history."

I laugh and tell him

"You can teach them some elven military war tactics and leading charges. Oromis seemed impressed with your military experience."

He tries to stand taller. He almost gives me that smile, but puts it away when the others arrive. Bastian and Esmeralda both land eager to have this last momment of us here. Sunrise comes up and we take it in as the Sun warms us.

Bastian says

"Seems yesterday that Killian caught the fish Damien flung at us when he first learned Risa."

Esme continued

"Remember when Adurna launched Killian into the lake when he made her crash into the waterfalls because he wanted to jump over them."

The laughter we had out of it was making us laugh in song.

I continued saying

"Even when Esme turned Datia invisible for the first time when she first tested out her magic daggers."

Datia said

You mean after when she ran into my tail.

The best times we had were here on this lake. Raz gladly brought in his own account.

Even when Bastian missed his arrow and it hit Esme's plant setting it on fire.

We got quiet and we all looked at each other ready to face everything and be the family we had already become forever.

In unison we said

"May the stars and ancestors guide our family."

Draven and Rezlo arrive with Glaedr and Oromis.

Rezlo says "These 8 are the best I have ever trained Oromis watch them well. See you at graduation in 2 years."

When we take off Oromis tells us mentally

We will go to Illeria first. Glaedr and I have one more task before heading to Vroengard. We all sense the same question.

Kvek tells me

Seems we weren't the only thing the council is here for... I wonder what we must take from Illeria.

I tell him,

Guess were about to find out.
                The sun is setting as we arrive to Illeria and we spend the night watching the moon and the stars hang over us. The city defies the very nature of the world, The prescence of Magic evident. Many dragons, elves, and humans ran through the city. Many Dragons, obviously wild, heading for a building in the middle of the city. I couldn't help but imagine the fires that must have made this very crater the city was in.
