"Oh my God, I hate family dinners."I thought as I pushed my mashed potatoes and corn around my plate. once again another family dinner, another lecture from my parents, and stories about my way too perfect brothers. Tonight, was just another night at the McAllister house.
My brothers Brandon and Jake were the cities superheroes and adored around the city, Brandon who was twenty two, had dark brown hair with green eyes, Jake who was twenty with dusty blond hair and sky-blue eyes.
They were both blessed with jaw dropping good looks and were obviously both Supers.
Me you might ask? My names Olivia McAllister, I had caramel brown hair with blond highlights with green eyes and a light dusting of freckles across my nose. As far as me and my family know, I'm powerless, a real disappointment to my family name
My family was known around Karagon City as the family of Supers. We are The McAllister's."Pass the salt sweetheart." My mom asked quickly.
I looked up and grabbed the small cylinder filled with the white grains of salt, and tossed it swiftly across the table, I smirked when it landed directly in my mom's hand, the impact knocking some of the grains onto the dark wood table, causing it to have a dusting of white.
"Olivia Melanie McAllister ." My mom snapped, "behave yourself and be nice to your parents, don't act so ungrateful please"
I scoffed and rolled my eyes, "Sure thing Mom."
She glared at me, then turned towards Brandon and let a proud smile consume her face. A smile only reserved for my brothers.
"What did you guys do today?." She asked smiling and holding up the black and white printed newspaper.
"Oh, you have probably already seen it on tv." Brandon said with a slight arrogant tone.
Mom smiled and looked back at me self-righteously. My mood dropped as fast as her smile did when she glanced over at me. "See Olivia, they're doing something to help everyone."
I scowled and looked back at my steak and mashed potatoes until my other brother Jake piped up, "Mom lay off on Liv, it's not her fault she doesn't have powers." Sending me a sympathetic smile, I smiled back and nodded gratefully.
"I'm going out." I stated, standing up and dragging the chair away from the table.
"Where do you think you're going?" Dad questioned, staring at me angrily. My parents were crazy overprotective about me going anywhere outside the house.
He stood up and placed both hands on the table, both brothers tensed up and casually moved to stand just in case things got out of hand. It normally did, I have a very short temper, as well as my dad.
"Why does it matter to you." I snapped glaring back just as challengingly, staring at him right back in the eyes. He sighed and looked over at mom, looking for help. To my amusement, she didn't do anything, and let my dad take control of the situation.
"Go upstairs and stay there! Please." He demanded.
"Why" I groaned, stomping my foot in frustration.
He glared at me due to my tone of voice, whining wasn't allowed at the dinner table. "You know we have to-" He started,
"-Keep our stupid reputation." I sighed finishing the sentence" I fake smiled and walked towards my bedroom, closing my door, making sure it slammed loud enough for them to clearly hear it. Call me petty, but hearing the door slam is very therapeutic.
I placed my headphones in and lay on my bed, cranking my music up full blast, a couple minutes later a soft knock came at my door, my fathers voice barely penetrating the door, and my music. "Can I come in?"
