ALEXANDRA KNEW SHE WANTED TO BE IN SWORD ARTS. BUT THERE'S ONLY ONE PROBLEM.
She's a female.
Alexandra stood with the crowd, where boys and girl alike were mixed together in different seats. Everyone stood in a straight line, in rows, waiting for their names to be called to declare their major, which will be penciled down by the admissions committee. This is a life changing decision, as you cannot change it as long as you're able to stay at Arga Lorraine. "Alexandra, what major are your thinking of?" July asks.
"Sword Arts." Alexandra replies, ignoring her face of disbelief.
"But that's a boys only major." And Arga Lorraine was the most progressive place in Arga.
"So?" Alexandra challenged.
"So it's impossible." Sophia finishes. Alexandra didn't even look her, she continues to watch students walk up, one by one, and declare their major to the admissions committee."Literature." A girl says, as she smiles. They nod and the girl walks across the elevated platform and down a stairs.
"Hey, what you want to major in?" July asks Sophia.
"Medicine. You?"
"Literature" July replies.
"What about you Lillian?" Sophia asks.
"I think I want to major in Fine Arts. My father says I have a innate talent for it. And he's probably right." Lillian renders thoughtfully. As people got called up one by one, Alexandra simply waited calmly for her name to be called. Sophia and Lillian had already been called up and declared their majors, medicine and fine arts respectively.
"Alexandra Gallagher." A monotonous voice sputters out. Alexandra, her back straight, her head held high, walks up to the platform.
"So your intended major miss." One of them asked, rather impatiently.
"Sword arts." Alexandra replied, without any hesitation. All of a sudden, the room went quiet. A split second later, a wave of whispers and murmurs began across the auditorium. All the admission committee members had their eyebrows perked up their faces, scrunched in disbelief."Sorry, Sword arts is boys only." Professor Liane, the only female in the committee responds. Alexandra didn't seem to budge.
"If Arga Lorraine is truly a school that provides opportunities for everyone, then I must get a chance to enroll at the subject I'm truly passionate about. Is that right?"
"I don't think so. Rules are rules." Professor Liane remarks.
"If I can prove that I am better than the best Sword Arts right now at Arga Lorraine, can I enroll?" Alexandra challenges.
"No, rules are—"
"Sure, if you are that talented, you earned it." Master Kent, the Sword arts professor interrupts. Professor Liane frowns."But she's a female." Professor Liane argues.
"Liane, no need to be so tense." Master Kent replies, playfully. She rolls her eyes in disapproval.
"Fine." Under the stage, all the sword art students casted a disdainful eye at Alexandra. To them, she was merely a female, and sword arts was a man's world.
