FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, THE SOUND OF SWORD SWISHING THROUGH THE AIR NEVER SEEMED TO STOP. Alexandra practiced tirelessly, her biggest mental support being the godly mission of helping those helpless test substance. Whenever her mind flashed to their desperate, hideous faces and scarred bodies that she couldn't even bare to look at, the more cynical and furious she became with Lord Lucifer and everything he had ever done. Every one of her attacks were sharp and purposeful. Her biggest flaw of uncoordinated and hasty movements has slowly transformed into precise ones. The greatest benefit of living in seclusion was that no one seemed to really know what you were up to, and this mystery builds up and creates an excitement, an anticipation almost for what was about to come.
Leon has been a kind, but extremely rigorous and strict teacher. He mercilessly pointed out all of her flaws, forcing her to work on them so hard that they might've become her special quirks and advantage during the actual duel. Her control of Earl 13 has improved by increments from before, although she has never been bad anyways. Even to Alexandra herself, this vast improvement was apparent.
"Did you ever practice before?" Alexandra asked, out of the blue. Leon didn't know what to say for a moment. He paused and finally answered,
"Yes. Before my injury, I would consider myself an expert." If he was a least bit sad, he didn't show it. Little did Alexandra know, Sword arts had been the only undisputed passion of his life. It was like a human's craving for oxygen, a flower's yearning towards the sun, Beethoven's love for the piano. One could easily have imagined how difficult it was for Beethoven to cope with his near deafness. Many I stances, he lost the desire to live, as he couldn't listen to the sound of music anymore. Even the release of his ultra successful tunes that revolutionized classical music, he was never able to hear them. How sad it must be. Hopefully, he heard the music in his heart, which he probably did. But still, that wouldn't be the same as hearing it with your ears.
Just like so, it will never be the same for Leon again. His legs will never be able to stand up again, his hands, ones he though were made perfectly for the sword, lusted for the feeling of a sword. But he knew, it was just a foolish little thought. What was the point of holding it when he will never be able to use it to its potential? Alexandra felt a bit guilty, like she does when she asks a sensitive and personal question.
"You were definitely good at it, you're the best teacher." Alexandra tried. Leon gave her a half hearted smile. His hands were gracefully folded together across his lap.
"Thank you Alex. I appreciate your concern. Now would you please get back to your practice?" The sunlight was beaming in brightly, casting a beautiful light on Leon's face. Alexandra nods slowly, and reluctantly went back to practicing her A Leaf position. This was the final hour... Only four more days left.... Oh god.....
