The Troubled Soul (Volume 2)

Chapter 6: One Versus Many.

He then pounced toward them, claws out and ready to kill...but then a certain silver-haired monster came out of nowhere and tackled Josh away from them. When they stopped rolling on the ground from the force of the tackle, Josh used his strength and kicked her off of him. She landed on her feet and ran back to Rose and Violet, standing in front of them. Compared to them, she was a few inches shorter. She kept watching Josh as he was already up and watching them again, never taking his eyes off of Silvia.

Rose: Who are you?!

Silvia: Me...Silvia.

Violet: You're that monster that killed two soldiers while we were on our way here!

Silvia: Yes.

Rose: Then why did you just save us?

Silvia: Because...you...Josh...friends.

Rose: How...wait a second. You said you would try to take Josh for yourself!

Silvia: Now...not...time.

Violet: She's right, Rose. We have to help Josh first, then we can argue with her.

Rose then made a heavy sigh. She knew they were right.

Rose: Fine, we'll talk about this later.

Silvia: Is...that...Josh?

Josh was still on all fours. He was glaring at Silvia, but...it wasn't a threatening look, he looked more curious than anything, like he was studying her. This caught all of the girl's attention as Josh's red and black eyes were staring only at Silvia. Then he slowly started moving toward her, which she had noticed and she started slowly walking toward him. When they met in the middle, they just stared at each other and Josh cocked his head to the right, and so did Silvia.

As they were staring into each other's eyes, Silvia saw something in his eyes, something she didn't quite know until now...it was the look of fear. He was scared, but she didn't know why. So she also got on all fours and looked over her shoulder to Rose and Violet.

Silvia: What...help...him..when...scared?

Rose: He's scared?

Silvia: Yes.

Violet: Oh, so that's why he tried to attack us. He was just scared.

Silvia: No...he...scared...but...blood...thirsty.

Rose: He's bloodthirsty?

Silvia: Yes.

Violet: But that isn't like him.

Silvia: Doesn't...matter.

Violet: Of course it matters, it's Josh!

The sudden loud noise hurt Josh's ears since he could literally hear their heartbeats, so her suddenly shouting hurt his ears. So he started rubbing his ears like a wolf and then jumped over Silvia, now looking at Rose and Violet, and made an extremely loud screeching roar at them. The force was so strong it made both of them hit their backs against the big rock, which hurt both of them a lot. Then he turned back to Silvia, who had a shocked expression on her face. Then she started speaking in the monster language that every monster uses to speak with each other.

Silvia: How can you screech that loud?

Josh: I am a Switcher.

Silvia: A SWITCHER?!?!?!

She immediately took a few steps back in fear.

Josh: Don't be afraid of me, I won't hurt you.

Silvia: You...you won't?

Josh: No, I find you...interesting.

Silvia: Interesting, how?
