Chapter 3: Horses and one cute hostler
I wake up to the sound of robins chirping outside my large window wall. I let my eyes flutter open to see my magnificent bedroom is filled with sunshine. I breathe in the scent of my duvet sheets that smell like luscious lavender, a relaxed smile creeps across my face. I stretch and wiggle my toes each one cracking, before I hop out of bed and making a mental note to paint my toe nails later on since they are currently covered in chipped remains of a deep pink polish. I slip my feet into the yellow duck slippers I found in my closet yesterday and grab my amazingly soft florescent blue robe off the back of the door and slip it on.
I walk down stairs to the kitchen were my dad is cooking some ham and cheese eggs and hash browns. My stomach growls loudly as the strong aroma from the food wafts into my nose causing my mouth to start watering, and announcing my presence to my dad.
He turns around briefly smiling at me before turning back to his cooking. "Good morning Dezarai. Did you sleep well?"
"Good morning." I say with a long yawn. "Oh and I slept wonderfully last night thank you for asking."
"That's good. Breakfast will be ready in a few minutes would you mind going and waking your brother up?"
I figure I should act as normal as I can even if I don't know what normal is for me. Even though I'm in my own house I feel like a stranger. I feel awkward around my family I don't remember them at all, what kind of people they are. Maybe my family isn't even like this normally maybe they're just acting like this hoping not to make me feel uncomfortable.
"No problem." I say cheerily as I head back up the stairs to Zach's bedroom pushing the thought aside for now.
I come to Zach's door and knock loudly. No answer. I knock again still no answer. I open the door just a crack so that I can speak into the room.
"Zach!" I whisper shout. No answer. "Zach!"
"Ugh." He groans. "What is it?"
"Dad says breakfast..." I don't get to finish my sentence.
"I'm up!" He shouts as I hear him shuffling in his room for a few moments before he emerges from his bedroom wearing guitar hero pajama pants and a loose plain black t-shirt.
"Well that got your attention." I laugh.
"There is no time to talk Dez. There is food to be eaten!" He shouts dramatically as he pumps his right fist in the air. I laugh even more at his childish behavior.
We speed walk to the kitchen where our dad has already loaded our plates with food and our mom is pouring herself a glass of orange juice.
As we finish breakfast my parents tell Zach and I to go get ready while they clean the pots and pans.
I go upstairs and enter my walk in closet. I decide to wear a pair of light wash denim capris with a cute tight fitting red tank top which is covered with black flowers and vines.
I quickly braid my soft long brown hair into a simple side braid before skipping back downstairs. Zach is already downstairs with my mom and dad sitting in the living room watching a TV show. He's wearing a pair of jeans and a loose DC t-shirt
One of the cherry wood floor boards squeaks as I step into the living room.
My mom turns around. "Ready to go see the horses?"
"Yeah... that would be...cool." I say awkwardly as I internally face palm myself.
"Okay let's go then." Says my mom as she flicks off the television which earns a groan from Zach.
