Why do students strike? What is their goal?

Students have been striking to stand up to their governments and to say that they are done staying silent and watching as the governments does nothing to help repair the future the young people are losing out on.

The government in my country, England. Yeah, I'm not proud to be English, I never have been, that's not right. I should be proud of my country, of my culture. But how can we as young people be proud of a country that is crumbling and is unaware of the effect it has on people that have no power to save themselves, let alone others, I am talking about more than just the people who live in countries with less money.

I am talking about the people who are so young, they can't understand what's going on. These people have no say, this is their future, their present and their lives.

Young people are angry and broken hearted. Their future is in the hands of companies and politicians alike, few of which are actually taking action.

These are arguments against student striking and the responses from those who believe students should strike as to why students do strike. 

1 Against: they're are not respecting how lucky they are to have an education.

1 For: they're using their education to strive for a better future for us all, internationally.

2 Against: they're only doing it to get out of school.

2 For: if they are too lazy to go to school then why would they bother to go and march? If they don't like school and need a break and so they are doing something productive instead of skiving, why would you tell them off for that?

3 Against: it encourages children to break the rules

3 For: you seriously need to watch Zombieland, also remember the suffragettes? The suffragettes did many things that were illegal and now women have the vote, protesting works. It encourages children to stand up and fight for what they believe is right, it empowers them to have their voice heard and to stand with others.

4 Against: it won't change anything

4 For: again, the suffragettes acted out and it worked, what we're doing isn't about protesting our opinion, it's about raising awareness of an issue that is already being handled, but not enough is being done.

5 Against: it disrupts classes for the students who don't want to strike

5 For: this is an issue for everyone, whether they want to strike or not, our education is never as important as the survival of animals and the human race. Some people want to strike but aren't given parental permission, some people just don't care, but it still needs to be done.
