What is Climate change? What is it causes it?

Climate change is when C02, also known as Carbon Dioxide (chemically bonded carbon and oxygen) and other greenhouse gases, for example methane create a layer in our atmosphere, like a blanket. This 'blanket' traps hot air within the atmosphere, essentially heating up the Earth.

This is called the greenhouse effect. The reason behind this is that hot air can get into a greenhouse, but doesn't leave it, the glass trapping it. The greenhouse gases in our atmosphere are called 'greenhouse gases' because they are what cause our atmosphere to heat up, acting as the glass in a greenhouse. The blanket they create traps in heat.

Except climate change isn't just about the greenhouse effect.

Climate change is also about habitats being destroyed, animals being driven to extinction, limitations to biodiversity, melting ice caps, rising sea levels, forest fires and so much more, some of which are consequences from the causes of global warming and others that are the direct consequences of global warming.
