In My Eyes

My door flings open waking me from my precious slumber, but I don't dare open my eyes. All of a sudden I feel a heavy pressure on my chest and hear a faint evil laugh above me. In that moment I knew exactly who it was... My sister. I slowly open my eyes and look up to see two bright blueberry colored orbs looming over my green ones. I feel like I'm missing something as soon as I see her eyebrow move up in disappointment. " You forgot didn't you." she said. I start going through the mountain of things she has said to me in the past week, then it hits me like a ton of bricks and I groan in my head. " No not at all today we are going hiking!" I said dreading every word that came out of my mouth. " Then why in the fuck are you still laying in the bed. Hurry up and get dressed Annie." she said walking out of my room. My sister and I have a close relationship, she is a year younger than me. Nicole is one of the many reasons push myself through the days. I don't know who I would be without her. 

After putting on a thin short sleeved t-shirt and a pair of comfortable leggings I run downstairs. I grab my bottle of water and run to throw on my shoes meeting Nicole outside. I see she has already grabbed my keys and hopped in the passenger side of my jeep. Damn I'm in deep shit. 

As soon as I hop into the car she looks at me expecting me to drive as fast as I can so we can get to the trail before the sun comes up. Little does she know I'm not looking to die today. When I pull out of the driveway she starts rambling about some band she found late last night, and how they gave her a spiritual revaluation. I try to zone out and focus on the road when she screams. "What in the hell Nicole?" I yell at her and she starts yelling at me about how they are in town. "Dude!! They are here for the weekend!" she basically screamed. "And why does this pertain to us?" as soon as that came out of my mouth I feel a blow to my shoulder. " Okay if they are that interesting why don't you put their music on?" I said with anger seeping out every word.

"This song is called Flower Power and I cried my eyes out when it came on last night." she said as she pressed play on her phone. I listened closely and the song was genuinely beautiful, and as soon as it ended we were at the trail parking lot. She gets out grabbing her phone and water bottle slightly pissed that the sun was already up. I look around just to see if anyone was here and there were a few people standing by their cars and there was a small van parked not too far from ours. "Earth to Annie!" Nicole said snapping her fingers in front of my face. I turn around and look at her starting to walk away, I quickly jog up to meet her. The weather was beautiful it wasn't too hot or cold, the sun came through the leaves leaving little patches of light on the ground and the breeze was just enough to keep you cool. 

Nicole was in her own head admiring the beautiful scene in front of her. I could not have asked for a better day. In the distance I hear laughing and people being rough, then I hear someone sing. "Hey everyone we are on this amazing trail that is surprisingly empty. Keep an eye out for some beautiful pictures we will grace your instagram with!" the mystery voice said. Nicole looks like she is going to pass out. "Hey are you okay?" I ask grabbing her shoulders. "That's them.. The boys I showed you in the car." Nicole says pointing in front of us. I quickly look up and i meet a pair of beautiful brown orbs.
