The cool autumn air nips at my skin as we jog silently in the dark to our blind. The fallen leaves crunch beneath our shoes. We both have our bow's in hand. With a quiver on my back and one attached to his belt holding our arrows. We're armed and ready. Jogging threw the night/morning.

Something isn't right. I can feel it. I know it's 4am now but it's too quiet for my comfort.

Hearing a twig snap I pause for a moment whispering "Ag, did you hear that?"
"Yes it was probably an animal Ame." He whispers in return. Then I swear I can hear hushed voices. "Ag?"
"Ame, hush." I see something move in the bushes but it isn't a deer, their's a silver thing pokeing out of the bushes and as soon a I notice it I hear something click. I grab my brother by his arm and quickly pull him behind a tree just in time as I hear the gun I knew I saw go off.

He looks at me stunned whispering, "That was not a fucking animal." as he composes himself and signals for me to stay put. Of course I do as I'm told and watch him disappear behind a different tree.

I can see the outlining of his body as he carefully pulls back the draw string, finding his target. Inhaling then as he exhales he releases the draw string firing. I know he hits his target when I hear a man yell out in pain. But I also hear a gun go off and my brother crying out.

As I crook my head so I can see what had happened I notice another man with a gun pointed directly at Agar. I take that as my signal to come out from behind my tree. It all seems to happen in slow motion, though I know I do everything in a blink of an eye.

Putting myself in a shooting stance I find the man in my scope. Everything seems to slow down as I inhale I feel as if time just stopped, as I exhale everything speeds back into motion as I shoot. I see the man go down and hear him scream. The arrow found its way into the man's chest, piercing his heart.

I scan the area to insure there is no one else. I don't exactly know how to feel about this as I walk up to the man I just shot to retrieve my arrow.

Shooting a man is no different then shooting an animal. I should feel bad because this man most likely had a family, someone waiting upon his arrival which would never come.

But I don't feel bad at all as I yank the arrow from the man's dead limp body, in fact I am infuriated that a man had pointed a gun at my older brother, the only family I have left, my only source of happiness and protection.

After I quickly wipe the blood off of my arrow the only thing I can think to do is run and embrace my brother. He is so warm as I wrap my arms around him and barry my face in his chest. I can feel his chest rumble as he lets out a deep chuckle. He hugs me back in an even tighter embrace and kisses the top of my head.

I smile but my smile quickly fades as I realize there is some blood running down his neck. Then I remember him crying out in pain. I find the source of where the blood is coming from and touch it with my pointer finger. He winces "He just nicked my ear is all. I'll get it cleaned up when we get home."

He release me and gently puts both of his hands on my cheeks forcing me to look him in the eyes. "You didn't listen to me, you could have gotten hurt or even killed." He states as calmly as possible.
I whisper yell "Seriously? Are you freaking serious right now! I saved your life and you are telling me I could have gotten hurt! I can't believe you."
"That guy had a horrible shot!" He sighs "I guess I should be thanking you for that. Thank you. But you scared the shit out of me. NEVER. EVER. scare me like that again. if you would have missed that shot, I don't even want to think what could have happened to you."
I smirk "But I didn't."
He just rolls his eyes and laughs at me. "I guess you're right. You didn't miss. But we should get going. It isn't safe here right now and we need more deer meat. As we're running I don't want you to make a sound, understood?" I just nod and we take off.
