Max Dixon's POV
"We're all infected."Rick states.
"What?"I ask. "At the C.D.C., Jenner told me. Whatever it is, We all carry it. "Rick admits. "And you never said anything?"Carol asks shocked. "Would it have made a difference?"Rick asks. "You knew this whole time?"Glenn asks. "How could I have known for sure? You saw how crazy that Mo-"Rick gets interrupted.
"That isn't your call. Okay, when I found out about the walkers in the barn, I told, for the good of everyone." Glenn says. "We'll, I thought it best that people didn't know."Rick says before walking away. I scoff as I turn around. He thought we shouldn't know. We're suppose to trust each other.
Then Lori went after Rick so Carl cane over to me. I hugged him as he shivered. "Here, let me grab you another coat."I say as I go over to the red truck and grab my bag. I open it up and pull out my black sweatshirt with the words 'don't care' on it. I take it back over and give it to Carl and he puts it on.
It was quite oversized on him, but it kept him warm. After that we all headed over to the rock walls and hot set up for the night. We collected firewood and built a small fire with enough wood for the night. Carl and I cuddled together as we all sat around the fire.
Soon the sun set and the moon came up. Rick was still off somewhere else doing who knows what. Lori had come back and sat down though. I was guessing everyone was okay with Carl and I being together since no one has said anything yet.
"We're not safe with him. Keeping something like that from us. Why do you need him? He's just gonna pull you down."Carol asks Dad. "No. Ricks done alright by me."Dad says. "You're his henchmen and I'm a burden. You deserve better."Carol goes on as she holds onto Sophia.
"What do you want?"Dad asks her. "A man of honor."Carol admits. "Rick has honor."Dad says before Maggie speaks up. "I think we should take our chances."Maggie says. "Don't be foolish. There's no food, no fuel, no ammo."Hershal says.
Then we hear leaves rustling causing Carl to jump slightly. I hold on to him tighter as we look around. "What was that?"Beth asks. "Could be anything. Could be a raccoon, could be a possum."Dad says as he stands up. "Walker."Glenn says.
"We need to leave. What are we waiting for?"Carol asks. "Which way?"Glenn asks. "It came from over there."Maggie says. "Back from where we came."Beth says as everyone stands up. "Yeah."Maggie says before Rick shows up.
"Last thing we need is for everyone to be running off in the dark. We don't have the vehicles. No one's traveling on foot."Rick states as we hear a branch snap. "Don't panic."Hershal says. "I'm not sitting here, waiting for another herd to blow through. We need to move, now."Maggie says.
"No one is going anywhere."Rick states. "Do something."Carol says. "I am doing something! I'm keepungvthos group together, alive. I've been doing that all along, no matter what. I didn't ask for this. I killed my best friend for you people, for Christ sake!"Rick says as we all stare at him shocked. He killed Shane.
"You saw what he was like, how he pushed me, how he compromised us, how he threatened us. He staged the whole Randall thing, led me out to put a bullet in my back. He gave me no choice. He was my friend, but he came after me. My hands are clean."Rick states as Carl then starts to cry. I wrap my arms around him as I rub his back soothingly.
"Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's a place for us, but maybe it's just another pipe dream. Maybe I'm fooling myself again. Why don't you, why don't you go and find out youself? Send me a postcard. Go on, there's the door. You can do better? Let's see how far you get."Rick says as we all stay where we are.
"No takers? Fine. But get one thing straight, you're staying, this isn't a democracy anymore."Rick states before walking away. Everyone was silent after he left. Then I stood up with Carl. I took him over to his mother before walking towards the open space to go out.
"Max, where are you going?"Dad asks as I turn around to see everyone staring at me. "I'm going for a walk. Gotta wrap my head around this."I state as I then walk away. I walk over toward the lake until I got up next to it. I decided to take a walk around it since it wasn't that big.
As I start walking I also start to think. So if I was to stay here with Rick, I'd basically have to do whatever Rick said. But if I left and went on my own, I could do whatever the hell I wanted to. Dad would probably come with me too since I'm his son and last living family member.
We could find some place to stay in or we could just stay on the move. Only stay in one place for 1 or 2 nights before moving on. We wouldn't have the whole group slowing us down and we wouldnt have to worry about feeding everyone.
The only thing that I still care about is Carl. I love Carl more than I love myself. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I left him behind. Since Rick is his father he most likely wouldn't leave him for some guy he likes. He'd stay with his father and mother.
Dammit. What could I do then. Either stay for Carl and have no freedom or leave the group with my dad and leave behind the love of my life. Choices are so hard to make. Maybe I could talk to my dad about it. See what he says. I can talk to Carl too. He might come with me. Might.
Then I felt the urge to pee. I look up and see that I'm already on the other side of the lake. I can see the camp fire and everyone's dark figures from here. They can probably see me too. I turn around and head into the woods to find somewhere to pee. I walk about 15 feet into the woods before finding a tree to pee on. I do my business quickly before turning to head back to camp.
Then I heard growling. I turn around and see at least 4 walkers a few feet away and getting closer. I take off my crossbow and aim it at one before pulling the trigger. I reload and shoot another one before reloading and hitting the third one.
But the 4th one was too close, so I took out my machete before stabbing it in the head. After that, I grab my crossbow and walk forward to collect my arrows.
Suddenly, I heard faint growls. But the growling was coming from ahead of me in the woods. Should I check it out? It sounds like a lot of them, but they aren't moving.
I might as well check it out. It could be a problem for the group. I quietly make my way through the trees as the growls get louder and louder. I walk for about 2 minutes before I break through the trees and am shocked by what I see.
There in front of me stood a prison.
In season 2 episode 13 for the last minute of the episode is shows that the prison is on the other side of the lake but none of them goes towards it.
