Max Dixon's POV

There in front of me stood a prison. It was about 35 feet away from the tree line. There looked to be about 25-30 walkers in the fenced in yard and about 20 on the outside of it. Luckily none of them have noticed me yet so I stayed quiet as I watched them. If we cleared this place out we could stay here.

I gotta tell the group. I turn around only to run straight into a walker. I cry out as I fall back and the walker jumps on top of me. I held it up as it tried to bite me. I had dropped my crossbow when I fell and I couldn't reach it now.

I needed to get my machete or knife. I carefully reach down to my belt while I keep one arm against the walkers neck holding it up. I manage to grab my knife and I quickly pulled it out and stabbed it in the brain as the body went limp. I pushed it off of me before standing up.

That's when I realized that all of the other walkers had heard me and were now heading my way. I quickly grab my crossbow and shoot the closest walker which was 20 feet away. My only choice here was to fight. I couldn't lead these walkers back to camp.

I quickly reloaded my crossbow before shooting another one. I repeated this until the walkers got to close. There were 13 walkers left now. I dropped my crossbow before taking out my matchete. I ran forward and started to take out the closest ones.

I was careful to make sure they didn't surround me cause if they did I knew I would be done for. I continued to stab and slice them breathing heavier now. I just had to kill 4 more and I was safe. I stabbed one in the head only for my machete to get stuck.

I didn't have time to try and pull it out since the other walkers were getting closer. I shoved the dead walker into another one as I go to grab my knife only to realize it was still in the other walkers head since I didn't pull it out. I quickly back up and try to think of what to do.

There are 3 walkers coming towards me and my only weapon is my handgun, but if I shoot it I will only be bringing more of the dead my way. I look around when I see one of the dead walkers nearby with an arrow in its head still.

I quickly run towards it and pull out the arrow before turning to face the other walkers. I kill the closest one and pull the arrow back out before stabbing the second walker. But the third walker came up on me too fast. It grabbed on to my shoulders and went to bite me, but I quickly stabbed it in the head.

But then I tripped and fell back with the now dead walker still on top of me. My head slams against something hard before everything goes black.

~time skip~

I woke up to the sun's blinding light. I groan as I close my eyes again. Then I felt the pain in the back of my head and the weight on my body. I open my eyes and see a dead walker on top of me. I quickly push it off as I then slowly sit up.

I carefully reach my hand behind me and feel the back of my head. I since at the contact before feeling a bump. I turn around to see that I had hit my head on a big rock. And there was dried blood on the rock. I carefully stand up and look around.

There were 20 dead walkers all around me on the ground. I lean down and grab my arrow out of the dead walkers head. I then continue to go around and collect my arrows. As soon as I have all my arrows i head over to the walker with my machete.

I step on its head before pulling out my blade. I look back at the prison and see that there are 30 walkers inside the fence. Me and the group could take em. The group. Dad's probably worried sick. Wait a minute.

Didn't Rick say they were leaving first thing in the morning. It looks like it's almost noon. I need to get back. I quickly run over and grab my knife and crossbow before sprinting back through the woods. I soon came up to the lake.

I look across and don't see anything. No movement what so ever. I sprint around the lake until I get to the rock walls. No one was here. I run up to the road and see that the cars are gone too. Shit. They really left me here. Dad left me here.

I head back over to the rock walls when I see a piece of paper. I run up to it and grab it. My name was on it. They left me a note. I unfold it and start to read.

Dear Max,

If you are reading this then that means you're alive and not dead like Rick says you are. You weren't back this morning and Rick wouldn't let us go looking for you. He said that we had to leave. We didn't want to split up so we went with him. We are heading east. Just follow the road that we were driving on. We will leave notes whenever we can. Please be careful. I love you son.

-Dad

So Rick made them leave me here. I needed to find them and tell them about the prison. It's our best hope for safety and survival. I quickly stuffed the note into my pocket and ran up to the road. I head the way we were driving towards before we had stopped.

I'm coming dad.
