"Madeline said she would help them put away our stuff, I want to just hangout on the beach with you before we leave." Drew says to me as we get ready to leave for home.

"No I feel bad."

I look to both of our parents chatting while they start stacking the suitcases on top of each other in the car. Madeline is laughing at something her dad said, and they seem surprisingly cheerful. I just don't want to leave them to do all the work.

"Ally, it's okay. Madeline offered." He reassures me.

"Okay, but only for a little bit."

He takes my hand in his and we walk closer to the water. It's getting so much cooler outside and quickly, so I guess it's a good thing we're leaving soon. Drew's eyes are focused in the distance, and I can't help but wonder what is going through his mind.

"What are you thinking about?" I gently ask, waiting for his response.

"I don't know...nothing really. My mind's pretty clear right now, besides I'm on a beach with a beautiful girl."

I blush at his answer and he sits on the warm sand. The sun is starting to set, making the whole scene even more beautiful. I sit next to him and remind myself that this is my life now. No more giggling over Jeremy in math class over how cute he is with Dakota, or thinking about which boy is the one I'd want to date out of the rest in my class. There's only one boy for me now, and he's right by my side. Dakota is probably sitting in her room waiting for me to get home so we can watch some netflix tv show that's actually good. God, I miss her. Even though it's only been a couple days since I last saw her.

"You look upset, is everything okay?" He interrupts my thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm okay."

I lay down and look up at the clouds, with nothing but the sound of the water swooshing and the faint sound of laughter and talking from the lake house.

I feel something poke at my sides and I immediately start giggling.

"Drew stop." I say in between breaths.

"No, you love it." He laughs.

I have a love hate relationship with tickling.

I grasp his hands and hold them with all my strength.

"Stop, I need to breathe." I pant.

"Sorry, sorry." He holds his hands up in defense.

"Truce." He declares when I take a step away from him.

"Promise." He states, and I move back towards him.

"No funny business, Phillips. I'm watching you." I warn him.

"Okay, okay." He laughs.

"I don't want to go back to school." I sadly state. I just want to start summer, but we're just beginning to go into fall. How disappointing.

"Don't worry, we always make it out alive. Everything will be okay. Hard, but okay." He tries to comfort me.

"Drew! Ally! We're leaving!" They call out for us and I groan.

I don't want to leave, I've been having such a great time. This flew by so fast, I wish we could've stayed longer.

School ruins everything.

"It's okay. We'll come back soon. Let's go." Drew smiles, and we walk back to the car.

I'm wearing sweats and a T-shirt. This is going to be a long car ride.

As soon as we pack into the car my head hurts.

Good God, I left my headphones in my suitcase so I can't even listen to music and sleep. We already started driving along the bumpy road, and it's not like I can get it now.

"What's the matter?" Drew whispers to me, and I sigh defeated.

"My headphones are in my bag, so I can't sleep." I wishh we back.

Drew takes out his from his pocket and hands it to me, but I feel bad... If I take it, what's he going to do.

"I'll be fine." He smiles, when he sees my worried expression.

"Are you sure?" I ask him once more.

"Yes, take the damn headphones." He laughs.

"I love you." I tell him, and kiss his cheek.

"I love you more." He responds, and then lowers his head when Madeline screams "Aw!" in the car.

Poor baby is shy, I laugh to myself.

I place the earbuds in and am immediately thankful when sweet melodies fill my ears.

Drew rests his hand on my thigh, and gives it a small squeeze as he shuts his eyes. I feel nervous having his hand there, but I relax when I know he's not going to do anything. His sister and our parents are in the car. Plus, he's never done anything like that before.

His hand moves up and I smack it away with my hand. He laughs with his eyes still closed and puts it back in its original spot.

-----

I wake up to Drew gently nudging me, and then he rubs his eyes awake.

"We're home." He sleepily says, and I'm surprised I slept for so long.

"Already?" I ask groggily, and see the sun is starting to rise.

"Yeah, you slept for forever. You didn't even nudge when I tried waking you up for food." After he says that my stomach grumbles and yeah, I'm starving.

"We still get you something, you can eat it when we go inside."

I moodily help take bags in, not wanting to do any work. I kinda just want to go in my room and sleep for another hour or two.

"You get tired really easily. You're going to be exhausted when I get my hands on you." He whispers in my ear, leaving my eyes wide and awake, and goosebumps covering every inch of my skin.
