Chapter 2
A knock on the door pulled me out off my half sleepy state on the couch. I groaned and cursed. Who would dare interrupt my sweet slumber?
Sweet, my ass, I scoffed.
I dragged myself off the couch and to the door, peeping in the hole and looking through.
I quickly attached the chain for security and opened the door as wide as the short chain would go.
“Hello, welcome to my building!” the handsome stranger said, his tone enthusiastic making me think of some things I should not. It’s very manly and deep so don’t go thinking I’m some kind of pervert!
“Uh, hi,” I greeted, unsure what to say.
I looked at his appearance taking in his white v-neck and walking shorts.
“This is for you,” he said stretching his arm to me, his muscles flexing with the movement. What’s in his hand surprised me.
“Chocolates? What for?” I asked.
“Welcoming you, like I said earlier,” he stated as if it’s already obvious. I was about to challenge him when he said, “They’re not poisoned are spiked or anything so don’t worry. I do this to every new occupant of my building.” He flashed an adorable dimpled smile at me making me accept defeat.
I closed my door and quickly removed the chain. I opened the door to the shocked-looking owner as understanding brushed his handsome face.
He was still holding out the bars of chocolates at me so I accepted them with a small smile. “Thank you,” I said. “I’m Tammy, by the way.”
“It’s a real pleasure to meet you, Tammy. I’m Caden.” He held out his right hand for me to shake and I did, making him smile. “Anyway,” he continued as I tugged at my hand making both his and mine drop to our sides.
It was the first time I took notice of his warm blue eyes and I was instantly sucked up into its beauty. “Uh… You h-have such beautiful eyes,” I whispered.
He chuckled lightly making me snap out of my thoughts. I blushed like the color of my hair.
“Why thank you, Tammy,” he said, his eyes sparkling with amusement. “As I was saying, if you have any problems with the apartment or any problem at all, you can call me. I live at the top of the building.”
“Okay.”
He smiled again before turning to walk off. I closed my door and kicked the nearest box I saw.
“Stupid, stupid Tammy!” I chided myself as I put the chocolates on the drawer near the door.
At least you didn’t drool, the small part me of said making me groan.
I walked back to the couch at rested my head on its back.
I still have lots to fix and arrange but I’m already too tired to do so, so I dragged myself up and walked over to my bed. I silently thanked whoever that this apartment already have the necessary furniture like the bed, couch, coffee table, TV stand, dining set for four and all the others.
I plopped on my bed with my tired brain buzzing with stress. I miss my waterfalls. I missed how much it can soothe my nerves or how it can relieve away the stress.
I sighed again.
Thinking back on the handsome stranger; he seemed oddly familiar. I didn’t know when or where, for sure, but he was. I think I might have seen him somewhere. Ugh, I can’t remember.
