As I walked back to the pack house, I couldn't help but wonder about Alpha Devin. If he's my mate, he could easily reject me.

Rejection.

That has been my biggest fear ever since I was little. I always dreamed of finding my mate and living happily ever after; but my fear of rejection alwyas kept me from dreaming too big.

We walked in silence. I tried to match my stride to his but he had such long legs it was impossible! Oh my God. What am I doing with my life?

Apparently, they have a whole entire different building for their prison. I guess that's pretty smart...

The pack house was a gigantic light blue house with white shutters. Honestly it was really cute.

He opened the door an let me in first. He smiled warmly at me as I walked through the door frame. I smiled back, but shyly ducked through the door.

"Faith, your room is up the stairs and to the left, I would like to talk to you in a moment."

I walked in and say down on the king sized bed. The room was amazing. The walls were white, making the room seem brighter. Plus the sheets on the bed were a blue pattern. It was beautiful.

Devin walked in a few minutes after quietly shutting the door.

"Hey..." I waved awkwardly.

"Hey." He waved back.

"So I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of Alpha's and Beta's feeling a connection with their mate?"

I nodded.

Oh god, where's he going with this??

"Well, Faith, I felt that connection with you. You don't have to be my mate or anything but I just needed to let you know that I might be overly fond of you. You can think it over but I just wanted to put it out there..."

With that, he walked out of the room.

Oh. My. God.

Are you serious? I gotta call Liv.

I dialed her number without even looking at the keypad. I dialed her number that much.

After the fourth ring, Liv picked up with her regular cheery greeting, "It's Liv!"

"Hey! I need to talk about your favorite subject." I said unenthusiastically.

"What? When did boys come into your life? By the way where have you been girl? I've been worried about you since the pack was called togehter and we discussed your family's dea-"

"It's okay. I don't know how, but I'm still alive."

Liv sighed, "Sorry, I didn't mean to you know..."

I know she didn't mean to, but that just cut deep. I guess I just haven't really thought much about my family lately so that's what's probably affecting me.

"It's okay, so here are my problems, I'm part of the White Night Pack now, plus, apparently, my mate is Alpha Devin!!"

The other line was quiet for a moment making me think she was gone for a minute but then her voice came clearly through.

"Okay, so first of all what happened to your old pack? Second of all, is he hot?"

I couldn't help but laugh. Olivia Hurr is in the Firery Wood pack. She moved there when we were four due to her father becoming their beta.

"Ok, well apparently, hunters came and killed off the pack but I'm still here... And yes, he's definitely hot."

Now I guess it was her turn to laugh. I guess she sobered up when she registered the first part of the sentence.

"Oh my gosh Faith! I'm so so so sorry!" She cried. "Everyone's dead? Even Finn? I loved him!" She sobbed. She really was crying. I also know she wasn't kidding when she said she loved him. I watched her feelings develop over the many times she would cross territory to visit me.

"Hey Liv why don't you get some rest and call me tomorrow she sniffled and I know she nodded. I kept the phone next to my ear even after the line was dead.

I sighed deeply. I don't want to have to go face Devin, but then again, I'm living in my new pack house so how will I avoid him?

I guess I should go try to make some new friends.

============

2 hours later, I had made one friend! Whoop Whoop!

I actually befriended the former Luna. Her name is Francesca and she's really sweet.

She told me all about how she met the former alpha, Don.

Her story was truly touching. She had to come to a near-death experience before she realized how much she loved Don.

I guess love is a crazy thing. When most people find it, they swear they're going to hold onto that bond with their soul mate forever. But some people, they believe that after a while, the spark is no longer there, and the number-one thing that made them happy just slips out of their grip. Love is crazy. It'll lead you all over the place and sometimes, some people need that crazy adventure, need that excitement and craziness before they realize how much love can affect and change their lives.
Love is the most wonderful thing ever and now I finally have the chance to experience it. And don't worry, I'm going to dive into this chance and swim across miles to reach wherever love will take me....❤️
