"Hey mom, what does 'level up' mean?" Eric asked while finding it annoying that the shining words had suddenly appeared in front of him wouldn't go away despite his swatting at them.
"I means that you leveled up, you idiot!" His mother replied angrily while pointing her sword towards a travelling merchant and his hired guard. "Now shut up and go check the wagon for anything worth selling!"
"Eh? Do I have to?" Eric asked lazily while making a pained expression.
"Just do it!" His father snapped in reply, and Eric let out a long-winded sigh as he walked past the shivering merchant before climbing into the back of the wagon and struggling against the sheet to no avail. Or well... it was to no avail for how much effort he put into it, anyway.
"Sorry, no can do. The sheet's stuck." Eric reported from the back of the wagon.
"Just how helpless are you?!" His father asked.
"You just leveled up, right? Put some stat points into strength and hurry up already!" His mother yelled again. "And you, Mr. Guard, had better not try anything in the meantime."
"Do I really have to search through all of this? It looks heavy." Eric asked while looking at the cargo in disgust.
"Listen, if we were all lucky enough to be born as royalty, then we wouldn't have to work. But seeing as we're bandits, we do have to work, and that means hard labor!" His father explained. "Now stop daydreaming and lets go before we're found by a patrol!"
"Open your stats by saying 'stats'." His mother reminded him before growling and waving her hand in front of her. "Not for me, you stupid system!"
"Stats, huh?" Eric asked to himself doubtfully before he was surprised as a bunch of information actually did appear in front of him in the same shining letters that the words from before did.

"Strength, huh?" Eric asked, thinking that a life of manual labor sounded terrible before he remembered the rest of his father's words. "If you're lucky enough, then you don't have to work..."
With a sly smirk on his face, Eric rapidly tapped on the luck stat which still seemed to be hovering in the air in front of him. And once it was raised by twenty points, the screen disappeared and Eric was left wondering if he'd made a mistake or not before the wind suddenly shifted outside and, not only did the canvas covering the back of the wagon suddenly blow away as the worn ropes that tied it to the wagon came undone, but the cloth covering all of the goods inside of the wagon was filled with air as well, making it rise which allowed Eric to easily find the straps keeping it down. And after he removed them, he checked his first crate which turned out to be full of some kind of alcohol.
