Flightless Angel
I know a Flightless Angel,
Whom lays in Earth's most sacred place,
Remorse is the wet dirt encrusted to the beauty's face.
A silence eerily still thickens the fallen beauty's voice,
Sky-less eyes,
Vacant soul,
Heart as cold as ice.
Swim in the sky he shall nevermore,
Cursed to count the stars above,
His chapped and bloody lips only part to mutter songs of somber,
For his beaten crippled wings can soar no longer.
I am forced to be witness to the destruction of his soul,
Sorrow has smothered my spirit within,
My faith has faltered at his battered sight,
My crystalline heart forever tainted with sin.
Do I dare to wonder?
Simple questions with answers unknown,
Why did God abandon him?
Why isn't he allowed to return home?
He is forever imprisoned to Earth in a solitary state,
Summer changes to winter,
Day and night commence,
He watches the shadows dance and play and lurk beneath Heaven's fence.
