~ My Beloved Ugly Boy ~
My beloved boy wears bruises
upon his broken smile,
People say he is ugly,
But his heart is soft and mild.
His eyes posses a perplexing sight,
Crooked teeth I have grown to love,
Voice as grotesque as his unsightly face,
This man I truly love!
Furrowed brow grates across his sharpened face,
Kind words are all he owns,
I nested inside of his cavernous heart,
No longer shall I sing alone.
They say his face is lacking pretty,
That his smile is stiff and cold,
But these people do not see clearly,
I pray he is forever mine to hold.
I love my ugly boy,
As flawed as he may seem,
I could not live without him,
He is my breathing and walking dream.
