A month later

Arthur has completely avoided Sarah. The sickness this past few days has subsided and her face has began to look fuller.

Arthur will leave chocolate bars by her tent every morning. It's sweet but she can't help to feel disappointed, she knew he wouldn't change. She can't quite blame him. It's his life.

"Miss McDonnell, you've gained weight. We must be fattening your pretty tail up then." Miss Grimshaw declared with a big smile. Even though the camp has totally started to fall apart, she was still going somehow.

Sarah started to get nervous from her comment though, her belly had started to round a little now, and her bust has as well. She's squeezing into dresses as it is.

"Yes. Sadie and Arthur need to stop giving me chocolate bars." She laughed nervously.

"Oh don't worry, you sure do glow and the weight gain looks good on you. I've always heard men love a full figured woman." She laughed and winked, grabbing a cup of coffee from the table nearby.

Sarah smiled, nodding in agreement.

Arthur was leaning on the tree near the hitches, he was watching her with a small smile.

Luckily, a month of being back has made him look healthier, although he still looks sickly. His face has more color and he's started to gain a little weight back. Hopefully he'll be better soon.

She watched him as he made his way towards her.

"Hello Miss Grimshaw, Sarah." He tipped his black hat in greeting.

"Hello Mr Morgan." Sarah smiled sweetly.

"Arthur." Grimshaw turned her cup of coffee up, finishing the contents. She nods her goodbye and leaves them alone.

"Do you care to go for a walk, Sarah? I'd like to speak with you."

She nodded. "Of course."

Her heart did somersaults. A smile broke across her face.

As they walked towards the stream down the hill, Arthur helped her around some rocks. "I'd like...if maybe. Uhh. When all this is over, we can start new." Arthur finally said.

She smiled at him, his blue eyes still clear as she remembered.

"Arthur. I'd love that, I don't know what's happened in your past. And I don't care. But I want my...I mean our child to have a family. My daddy, oh he'll be the best granddaddy and my mother as well." Arthur laughed.

"I mean she'll be the best grandmother." Sarah blushed.

"Yeah..I just need to know you will be safe first. And the baby." Arthur turned his back to her. "Like I've said before, I'm not a good man but I can try to be good to you. I've had hell, losing someone who was like a father and I'm sick. Real sick." His voice dropped an octave, sounded coated with tears but she knew better than that.

"I'm sorry." She said quietly.

"It ain't your fault." He turned to her and smiled sadly.

She stood, stepping closer. She bravely stood on tiptoes and kissed his full lips.

He pulled her close, deepening it.

"Arthur!" A voice called from the hill above which made the couple jump away from each other. It was hell for them to live this war.

"Damn..it's Dutch." Arthur cursed, roughly pushing a hand through his thick blonde hair.

"Go. I'm fine, I'll walk up in a moment."

Arthur nodded, his face serious and left her to think.

The water from the stream splashed on the rock under her, it was a warm day and everything seemed too quiet.

"Sarah!" Sadie rushed down the hill. "Dutch knows!"

"What!?" Sarah squealed. "How?"

"I don't know. He said everyone was thinkin you might be." She hissed. "you gotta leave and now."

Sadie whistled and her horse came barreling down the hill.

"Get on!"

They both mounted, and left with lightening speed out of Beaver Hollow.

"You sure can't have a break!" Sadie yelled.

Sarah was fighting tears but she knew it would happen eventually. She would have dreams and memories now she supposed.

She was wondering now who told..
