You know that phrase, do or die? And how it basically means to do something or you're going to die? I hear it a lot. Almost too much. But it's a very interesting thing to concept. Most people pick 'do' most of the time.
Me? Well, right now I kinda wanna pick die.
Before you jump all over me with your uncontrollable jumping-to-conclusions, what this means right this second is I would rather die than hurt my friend. There. Does that sound a little better to do you?
I should probably explain- my name is Gameknight999, the User-that-is-not-a-User. And this is probably going to sound insane to some of you, but just hear me out, okay?
I'm a Minecraft warrior. Yep, you heard me right. My father built this insanely cool device that can transport me into Minecraft whenever I wanna go in. Most of the time, I don't want to go in. In fact, the first time I used it, I had no idea what was happening. I literally just threw a soda can and boom- I was thrown off my desk chair and into Minecraft. Anyways, I've been going into Minecraft for a few months now, and most of the time, it's been a pretty enjoyable experience.
Most of the time. Not right now, though.
Because who calls 'having to watch this jerk guy torture your friend and you can't stop him because if you hurt the jerk guy you'll hurt your friend too' enjoyable?
I've mostly been able to restrain myself from brutally murdering Herobrine right now, but only because Galaxy's already taking care of that for me.
I should talk about Galaxy for a sec- full name GalaxyGamer71. We met when I was about two, in the daycare that our parents both sent us to. We'd been best friends ever since. And then, when Galaxy was six or seven- I honestly forget how old she was, don't judge me- her parents died because of a tornado that occurred while their family was visiting relatives in Kansas. The mayor himself drove her back home, and asked her where he should drop her off. She said my house. She's been living with us ever since.
But another thing you should know about Galaxy- you don't screw with her. She said this herself- "I don't give a crap if someone hurts me, heck, I wouldn't even care if they killed me... but if they mess with my friends and family... you're fuckin' dead." Excuse the language, Galaxy doesn't watch her profanity.
Anyways, I didn't want to get in Galaxy's way of attacking Herobrine, mainly because if I came within twenty feet of him, there'd be an arrow through my heart before I could even scream. Besides, it looked like she was doing a pretty good job... oh frick. Galaxy just fell over... and she's pinned to the ground.
"Oh, Gameknight!" Herobrine says. Dang, he sounds so weird using Herder's voice. "Get you butt over here!"
I roll my eyes, not wanting to go over there at all. But I did, because something about the way he's looking at me makes me think I can't say no.
Then, I see Galaxy, and I almost faint of fear.
"What the heck did you do?!" I snap, glaring at Herobrine.
"Hey, hey, she attacked first," says Herobrine simply. "It was defensive."
"Those words are comin' outta your mouth?!" I say. "How much HP does she have left?"
"How am I supposed to know? Do I look like Google to you?"
I roll my eyes again. Since when was he so sarcastic?
"Ha ha! Just kidding, bro, just kidding. I can check." Herobrine leans over Galaxy. "Uhh... hold on... still loading... there we go. She's at 2.5 hearts."
"ONLY TWO AND A HALF?!?!?" I screamed. "Why you little-"
"Geez, calm down!" Herobrine said, taking a cautious step back. "I can revive her HP... on one condition."
"What? Tell me!"
"You let me out of the server and into the physical world."
"I would literally rather die."
Herobrine smiled evilly. "Then you will," he said in an awfully demented voice.
He swung the sword at my head. I ducked it just in time, but that wasn't all he had in store- he jumped on top of me, pinning my arms behind my back. I struggled to get out of his grip, but it didn't work- he was extremely strong, too strong for me to get him off of me. He wrestled my swords out of my hands, throwing them off to the side. Then, he grabbed his sword and put it up against my neck, the blade digging into my skin just enough that it hurt.
"Now, it's time to decide," he snarled, pressing his sword harder against my neck. "You take the Gateway of Light... or you die. And make no mistake- once I kill you, I'll kill all of your friends and finally, I think we'll do a little test to see if pig-boy here can swim in lava."
"But you'll die too, if you do that," I said, trying to sound as confident as I possibly could when there was a sword at my throat.
"You idiot. Haven't you learned? I can never die. The next ghast or blaze that goes down there to eat the molten stone will be possessed with my XP, and I will be reborn again. Nothing you or anyone else can do can stop me from taking over Minecraft. So now it's time for you to choose."
I looked over at Galaxy. She was sitting up slightly, but she wasn't sitting up all of the way. She gave me a look that said, "you decide what you think is right." Well, that's not exactly helpful, is it? I thought, becoming more and more hopeless by the second.
Then, my eyes traveled over to where the other NPCs were fighting. Crafter stared into my eyes and shook his head, mouthing, "don't do it." I don't know whether he was telling me to not sacrifice the NPCs, or perhaps he was telling me not to sacrifice myself... but it was too late. I had already made my decision.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, I nodded, tears dripping out of my eyes and landing on the netherrack, turning to steam the second they hit the ground.
Herobrine smiled. "You mean you're going to let me out? You're going to sacrifice yourself and your entire Earth planet thing to save Minecraft?"
"Don't rub it in," I moaned, crying. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm letting you out. You happy?"
"Very." Herobrine slowly took the sword away from under my neck, and then let me stand up. I walked over to Galaxy, helping her up.
"Are you really doing this?" she asked me. The fear in her eyes was almost unbearable to look at, I wanted to look away.
"We have to," I said. "Maybe Monkeypants will have had the plan ready. Maybe we'll all be okay. But... we have to try this."
"Okay," said Bryne. "I'm not mad at you, Gameknight. Just scared."
"Me too," I sniffed. "Come on... it's now or never."
"Honestly, at this point, I'd choose never, but... let's go."
She took my hand and we walked over to Herobrine.
"Go ahead. Do your little magic white light thing," said Herobrine, a sting of attitude in his voice. "My patience is short, and if you don't get on with it now, I might kill both of you."
"Hold your horses!" snapped Bryne. "We're working on it. Gameknight, go ahead."
Nodding, I reached out through the fabric of Minecraft, imagining my fingers typing on my computer keyboard.
"Dad..." I whispered, both saying it out loud and in my head. "Bring us back. It's over."
White light enveloped the three of us. I reluctantly took Herobrine's hand in my own, shuddering. Galaxy held onto my shoulders as the three of us were wisked away.
And as we left, Galaxy and I clung to each other and cried.
