FOUR DAYS LATER...
I haven't left the house since Tuesday, no joke.
My dad called me out sick from school, and he hasn't made me leave the house for anything, which is good. I've just been cooped up in my bedroom watching YouTube and playing Roblox for the last 96 hours. Jenny's even been bringing me food.
But since I was starting to get a little wasted, Bryne decided to take me to the park near our house. "Just to hang out," she said. "You don't have to play or anything."
So I agreed.
Anyways, Bryne and I are currently sitting on the double slides, staring up at the cloudy sky. We didn't really feel like doing much of anything at the park right now, so we just sat here. The shock of what had happened a few days ago is still hanging over our heads like fog.
"I feel so terrible about what happened," Bryne finally says, sitting up slightly.
"Me too," I say. "But... hey, at least we saved all of the NPCs. Well, most of the NPCs."
Bryne nods. "I hope they're all okay," she says. "When we left, they were all still fighting Charybdis and his blaze army. I mean, it looked like Jenny was doing a pretty good job holding them off, but..."
"I understand," I say. "I wish there was some way we could check on them."
"I know. Me too... but you know we can't. It would be too dangerous for us," Bryne replies with a sad tone. "I bet you anything that Herobrine's looking for us. Plus, we're the only people who have the skills to take care of him, along with your dad and sister, of course. Think about all of the trouble he caused for Minecraft. If you take what he did there and turn it into what would happen in the physical world, you've got what most people would describe as a terrorist."
I can't help but agree. Herobrine was an absolutely awful person in Minecraft. The only thing he cared about was killing people. In the real world, he'll have access to all of these weapons, like knives and grenades and guns-
I stop, not wanting to finish that sentence. The thought of what Herobrine would do to me if he got his ugly hands on a gun is way too scary for me.
Bryne runs her hand through the back of her hair, something she does when she's nervous. "What are we going to do?" she asks. "We can't tell anyone about this. And even if we did tell someone, they'd never ever believe us. 'Herobrine escaped Minecraft and he's in this world and trying to kill us,' even it sounds weird to me when I say it out loud."
I nod. She's got a point, it's not like we can tell any adults about this. Kids don't get a voice in this world. They'd never care about it. They'd just say, "oh, you kids with your vivid imaginations. That's not true!"
But then I realize something. The grown-ups might not believe us... but some other people might.
"Bryne... I think I get it!" I say with excitement. "I know what we can do!"
"What? What is it?" Bryne says.
"There are a ton of kids at our school who play Minecraft and know how much of a threat he is. If any of them see him out there, they're gonna know who he is. Then we'll have to tell them. We'll have their help!"
Bryne thinks for a moment, then smiles really big.
"Tommy... you're totally right!" she says. "We have to tell them! But wait... who should we tell first?"
I shrug. "Sam, maybe? She was the first person I knew- besides you, obvi- who knew about Herobrine."
Bryne snorted. "Tommy, are you kidding me?" she laughs. "No offense to her or anything, but Sam can't even handle the fact that Herobrine exists in the game. She'll freak out when she realizes he's in the real world!"
"Yeah, but imagine what would happen if she sees him and we didn't tell her. She'd shit her pants on the spot."
"True, true. Okay, you're right, we'll tell her."
"Good. I was thinking we could tell Owen, too. He'll take it pretty well; Owen doesn't care about anything."
"Smart."
I feel a raindrop hit my forehead. Thunder rumbles in the distance, and I'm pretty sure I see lightning flash. Bryne stands up almost immediately, pulling her hood over her head. "Come on," she says, her voice suddenly less cheery. "We should go. I don't wanna get caught in the rain."
I nod, grabbing her hand and rushing back to my house through the rain.
