"Kayla, wake up!" A voice yelled from downstairs.

"I'm up!" I screeched.

Ew.....morning breath.

I could feel my hair in a huge tangled mess atop my head.

Ugh....school!

I scuffled to my closet and peeled off my pajamas, then I sleepily pulled on my outfit for the day.

I rip the hair brush through my "bird-nest" and pull it all back in a high pony tail.

Then I check myself in the body mirror that hung on the back of my closet door.

.....bacon?

I race downstairs towards the newly discovered aroma that's emanating from the kitchen.

"What's the occasion?" I asked Dad as I sat down at the kitchen table.

I knew something was up because Dad normally only made big breakfasts on the weekend.

During the week we just ate cereal and stuff like that for breakfast.

"I have a surprise" he said sliding the still sizzling bacon onto a plate.

"A good surprise?" I asked munching on the warm bacon.

"Depends" he said getting the eggs out of the fridge.

I quickly went over all the possibilities.

"Well? What is it?" I asked.

"I have a date" dad told me.

Only the sizzling of the freshly cracked eggs broke the silence.

My mother had passed away only two years ago so this was big news.

Dad had never dated before, well not after he met mom.

"Oh" was all I could manage.

Another long silence.

"When?" I asked, putting my plate in the sink.

"This afternoon" he said.

It was Friday.....

"Oh, okay" I shrugged grabbing the keys to my car.

"Do you wanna talk?" Dad asked.

"I have to get to school" I said grabbing my backpack.

"Okay, we'll talk later then" dad said going back to the kitchen.

I hopped in my Bug and drove to school.

Then I saw him...

"Tyler!" I shouted to get his attention.

"Hey, babe" he said.

We kissed.

We broke apart and he slid one hand through his thick, black hair.

"So, what's your plans for this weekend?" He asked.

Kissing was the farthest we've ever gone.

"Well my Dad's got a date but I'm free" I laughed.

"Well, there's this big beach party later" he told me.

There was ALWAYS a beach party.

"Do you wanna go?" He asked.

I normally wouldn't have agreed but I really needed to get out of the house.

"Sure, what time?" I asked.

"6:30, I can come pick you up" he said.

"Okay, text me" I said.

We kissed and then parted to go to our separate classes.

"Heyyyyyy" Lila said when I took my seat.

She had been my best friend since......the beginning if time.

"Hey" I replied.

"Guess who asked me to the party!" She screeched.

"Who?" I guessed.

"Danny Mallowitz!" She practically screamed.

"What!" This was amazing news!

Danny had asked Lila to party's before but she had always refused because she was dating Kevin Brown.

They'd only recently broke up.

"I know!" She said.

"You two are gonna look absolutely great together!" I exclaimed.

"Not as good as you and Tyler" she wiggled her eyebrows.

"Oh shut up" I told her.

I must have been a little two loud because....

"Kayla Johansson, please move over here" she said pointing to a deck.....alllllll the way across the room.

I gathered up my things and move to the desk.

Great....

It was right in front of Troy Gilbert.

Nobody ever sat in front of Troy....ever.

And now that I was his new target I knew what my fate contained.

He was the school bad ass, and I knew that this class period was gonna absolutely suck.

But I was wrong, class didn't suck......it was an absolute nightmare!

Forty-five minutes of him tapping the back of my neck with a pencil, Forty-five minutes of him making beeping noises in my ear so only I could hear.

Forty-five minutes of him being a total jerk, and not being caught......

I couldn't wait for class to end
