A few days after the bonfire i finally began accepting my existence on the island. Peter woke me up a good hour before he would the others and we would fight.

I could feel myself getting better by every day.

But there was someting missing. I remembered the movies and the stories- and isn't he supposed to fly?

I asked him about this once, durning sword practice.

He had me chopping branches off of trees- in one clean swipe, the branch had to come off. He would collect them for firewood.

"So, Peter,' chop, "have you ever heard-" chop, "the stories about you-" chop, "-on Earth?" chop.

He laughed "A few. Why do you ask?" I stopped chopping.

"Well..." I began, but laughed instead. "I don't know. Nevermind-it's stupid."

He smiled. "Oh, I know. You want to know why I don't fly, don't you?"

I looked at my feet. "I know, it was a dumb question. I dunno why i thought it would be like the stories, I just-"

He stopped me. "I used to be able to- all the time, actually. But I just can't, not anymore."

"And why's that?"

He sighed and looked up at the sky. "There are two things you need in order to fly. You need to believe you can, and you need pixie dust. Unfortunately, I ran out."

I stared at him. "Completely? There's none left on the island?"

He sighed again, more deeply. "There is some- but only a little. The fairy, Tinker Bell- she has two tiny vials of it. But they're small, and she doesn't want to give them to me."

I laughed. "Tinker Bell?"

"Yeah," he said. "Why's it so funny?"

"Oh it's nothing." I sighed. "So, this Tinker Bell... where does she live?"

He smiled. "If you walk down that path," he pointed to the one behind us- "you'll reach one of the mountains on this island. On the other side of it is a little cave, where she lives. But going there, it's a day's trip each way, if you're quick."

"Lovely." I smiled and turned around. "I think I'll be taking a few days off then." I said and began to walk towards the path. I'd better start early if i want to make a two day trip.

"Do you think I haven't tried getting it from her?"

"Well I'm feeling lucky."

"She's bitter and violent- are you sure about this?"

"I've dealt with bitter and violent. You should've seen some of my foster parents!"

"Do you think this is a joke? And further, do you think I'm just letting you off your duties, just like that?"

I turned around.

"Actually, I know you will, because I'm a lost girl, and I'm not even supposed to follow rules."

He sighed and watched me turn around and leave. I began jogging down the path, sword and all.

~~~
Night was approaching. At least, I think it was- i can never tell. It always looks like either twilight or nighttime. I was on the other side of the mountain.
I was looking around. Where the hell is that cave?
Perhaps I got lost. How would i get back to camp?
