Chapter Seven- The Mission

After the kiss, life became... easier.

It felt sort of like everyone had more respect for me. I stopped being a pawn and, slowly, I began to stay glued to Peter's side.

We still fought in the mornings-sword fighting, that is- and I was learning quickley.

And- the closer I got, the more he let me in on.

One morning I woke up early, as usual, for him to teach me. I walked behind the bush and saw him curled up and looking at... something.

I snuck up behind him and leaned over him. I put my arms around is neck and looked at the picture. It was just a drawing, of some little boy's face.

I looked closer. "Who is... this?"

He breathed in deeply. "I want to show you something, Tiger Lily."

He grabbed my hands and we floated up. We flew high, over the mountains, until we were at the other side of the island. There was a small little island off the coast. We touched down to the land. The island is shaped like... a giant skull. He didn't let go of my hand.

His breaths were a little shaky. We stepped into the mouth of it.

It was huge inside. The walls were lit up orange and as i turned there was a huge hourglass right in front of us.

He sighed. "This is how much longer I've got."

"You've... got?"

"To live."

I looked. The hourglass was almost emptied.

"Oh, Peter..."

"There's only one thing that can help me. It's the heart of the truest believer. I need it or... or..."

I brought him in towards me until my arms were wrapped around him.

"What do we have to do?"

He took a deep breath. "I need you to do something very important. How would you feel about returning to the human world for a bit?"

Peter decided to throw one last celebration before I left. He's a big fan of those.

The fire wood gathered from our lessons was used for the fire. The bonfire was huge- the flames reached the high branches of the trees.

Everyone was dancing. Random movements in circles around the bonfire. I joined them- I couldn't stop smiling.

There was even a point where Felix joined us. I grabbed his arm and pulled him up. He was unenthusiastic at first, but after a few minutes he was dancing alongside the rest of us with the same enthusiasm.

Halfway through, Peter stood on a tree stump and shouted, "Boys! I'd like to play a little song for our Lost Girl- Tiger Lily!"

He pulled me up to his level and put the panflute to his lips. The song was beautiful. I danced on the tree log with him.

When no one was looking he led me behind a bush. We sat down and he put his arm around me and kissed me. It was soft and sweet and full of longing.

"I'm going to miss you," he whispered in my ear.

"It'll just be a few months," I reminded him. "I'm not going to abandon this place."

"Alright," he said. He was smiling but his eyes were filled with sadness. "Just remember where your true home is."

I had a sword and a list and an extra bag of pixie dust. On the list was a plan... a really, really extensive plan, starting with how to get back to Earth- and it came with a magic bean

The boys were gathered around. They were cheering me on and telling me to make sure to bring back gifts (Not sure if they were joking- I figured I wouldn't get them anything).

I walked out of the crowd and into the clearing. He was waiting.

"Your sure your okay with leaving?"

I smiled and laughed. "I'll only be gone a few months," I assured him.

He kissed me, but quickly, because the Boys were watching us.

I threw the bean on the ground and it started glowing and swirling until it made a portal. I turned to Peter. I squeezed his hand and began letting go.

"Tiger Lily, before you go-"

I slipping through the portal but held on to the ground. "What? Peter I can't hold on-"

"I love you Tiger Lily." He said it in a way that only I could hear.

I opened my mouth to speak but I slipped through before I could.
