He is at lost.
He is at total lost, confused of how he should react to what he've just heard.
'The other three who'll join him are: Kurai Ichi, Muruwaka John, and Sugadaira Genzou.'
He can't believe himself. He who is stupid, he who can't do anything right, he who is nothing but a burden to the team– will be pulled out by the prestigious, renowned baseball team, Galarians.
He can't believe himself. He, who just a few hours ago, have a little conversation with Tokuchi, confessing what he have gone through when he was young. Admitting his urge to stay in the baseball world despite the inability to do anything right. He, who in his childhood days, can't do things normal kids could do naturally.
He can't believe himself. He, who is helpless, only got a chance in life when a person tried reaching to him. At the time he isolate himself to the world, his teacher– Minamida-sensei. Minamida-sensei is the person who, instead of criticizing him from skipping classes, is first one to praise him when he's only good at rock throwing by the river bank. He's the one who gave him a dream of being a pitcher.
"Amazing! You're amazing Kurai! Become a pitcher!" Kurai knew he said an unreasonable thing but still, that words made him extremely happy. He even hold dear of the glove his teacher gave him, up until now.
He can't believe himself. Out of many talented second string players the Lycaons have, the Galarians chose him. He who only have one supporter, who have no much capability.
"This... Am I allowed to be happy?" He timidly asked, despite the protesting players.
"Take it at face value. There is someone who thinks you're important to them than ever before... Isn't that alright?" Replied Tokuchi.
"Tha... That's right!" He was so happy at that time. He was so happy, just like that time Minamida-sensei praised him. After three years of rotting in the second string as a gofer, he never felt happy as he was.
He never expect that it would end so suddenly, right when he just found this ray of hope for himself.
"To prevent the Galarians from getting criticized, I made them a proposal... I told them to add 3 trashy players to the trade. To hide the 2 billion yen paid for Tokuchi."
"Who would have thought that 3 on the verge of disposal will come in handy?"
"Even if I say in handy, as soon as the trade is completed...
they'll be dispose off after this season." He heard the conversation between the owner and their coach.
He felt his world fall into pieces. He never would have thought that the blessing he received is going to be his doom in disguise.
"In other words, we're extras. No, even less, we're like the box to some gift. Or even the bubble wrap to some box of glass." Kurai and Muruwaka was speechless of Sugadaira's words.
"Hehe, yesterday, I was in festive mood. I did some dry swings the first time in a while. I thought, going to Galarians could be a new start for me." He continued. "I see... That's what it was about. We were just trash... waiting to be thrown out I guess." He said as he started walking away.
"Ne, Muruwaka..."
"Hmm?"
"Do you, perhaps, want to play catch?"
"Ehh...? Ahh..." The tall foreigner nods, as he could relate to his sentiments.
'How... did it turn out this way? Everything's doing just fine back then. If only... if only I knew it will end up like this... I shouldn't have left the USA.' But, he didn't know. He didn't know how it happened. He didn't know why it went that way. He didn't know how to stop the fate from being fickle. He didn't know how to change it. He didn't even know what fate in Japanese is. He didn't know.
