Christmas eve came, on of Charlie's favorite day as there's too much new toys coming around him

Christine came with Luke that day. Her mother rolled her eyes but his father spread his arms to hugged his 'prodigal son in law', his exact words when he saw him. Her dad was always the undetstanding one. Frida once said her father is a real Principal Tushman in that movie Wonder.

They were all huddled at their living room when Carl rushed in finally. This time, it was her father who rolled his eyes while her brother explained about the busy days in his kitchen who he can actually leave with his people anyways. He's just workaholic, her dad said

Morning came at Christmas day. Everyone came down at noon and found Carl doing what he does best, cooking. It's a treat for everyone as Carl never stayed that long in their house ever since he left for college years. Thomases house is an eight bedroom two storey building in L shaped made of rubble stone and slate. It's an old Victorian house just like Christine's place in the city.

"I'm happy you're here, brother. It's a treat for all of us!", Christine said to her brother as they are taking Carl's food on the table.

"Dad was so pissed last night so I have to do this"

"Who did this tarts, Susan? It's so good. How long does it last?", Tin asked Carl as he pulled his phone in his pocket and smiled at whatever he's looking at. "Hey"

"What? O the tarts, I don't know how long it will last. It's Susan's", he said swiping again his phone

"I'll buy something for J. She's big on that", Tin said

"Yes it's big", Carl replied while on his phone that made her frowned

"Are you listening?"

Carl looked up to her, "What?"

"I said J, she like desserts. Frida and Jb's in Italy at the moment. They'll back in two weeks so I think it will spoil by thay time so I need fresh one"

"I'll tell Susan", Carl said as he smiled at his phone again. "So cute!", his reaction exactly because he tickled his phonescreen

"What are you looking at?", she asked while rounding up the table to look at his brother's phone

Carl locked his phone, "It's just too much memes at social media. Christimas greetings memes"

"Ok, help me in carrying your other food", she said but rolled her eyes when she found Carl in his phone again making stupid smiling face.

"How's your dad?", Christopher asked Luke at his farthest left. The patriach sat at the end of their long table, Carl choosing the closest left of it.

"He's doing great at retirement, it seems good on you too", Luke replied

"At least he can retire, all his sons wants to take his place. Unlike the other old guy here", Margaret joined in at Christopher's right. Her mother was sitting opposite Carl who still looking at his phone.

"Margaret, somebody do that for me and I trust him", their father said

"Whatever, by the way, we have rules here in the house, no phone at the dining table", Margaret said.

Carl looked at her mother and put his phone on the table. He sighed and turned at their dad. "Dad, I'll be going after this breakfast. It's Christmas. We have a lot of customers during these times. My staff needs my help", he said

"Speaking of, when are you going to show up with a girl", Christopher asked his son grinning

"Ah, enough about me", Carl said. "Can we just eat?"

"The foods amazing by the way, right Charlie?", Christine said at the farthest right of their father. Charlie situated between her and Margaret

"Don't eat that much, you know what entered the lips…."

"It's Christmas we can eat everything we want", Carl cut Christine's mother while looking at his meat

"I saw a girl on uncle's phone", Charlie innocently shared just in time to change their topic

"Really now, What does she look like, sport?", his grandpa asked

Carl blushed as Christine grinned on him. "I didn't saw much she's at back", Charlie answered

"Okay, let's move on to another topic", Carl uttered in annoyance

"What? I need young Thomases running around here. It's lonely", Christopher said laughing

"We have Charlie already", Carl replied

"Oops he's going to be Roberts soon", Luke joined in. "Sorry man, you're on it alone." Christine almost choke on that statement. Soon? She saw her mother rolled her eyes on it

"Ok, I'm on it", Carl resigned

"What do you mean?", Tin laughed

"I'm doing it!"

"You're creating your own Mrs. Thomas?", Christopher persisted while laughing at his only son

"Whatever! I'm going", Carl yelled causing mostly everyone to laugh

"Margaret can I have moment?", Luke asked Christine's mother when he cornered her on their living room

She smirked at him for the nth time, "What is it?"

"Can I…. I think you're criticism with Christine are way too much"

"Criticism? I'm just reminding her of what to do. She's my daughter. That's what mothers do", Margaret dignifying herself

"Telling your daughter fat all the time? For me that's offending I love her body the way it is"

She sat on a couch nearest to their tall Christmas tree and try fixing something that doesn't need to be fix, "You men, lie to make women feel good but actually you roll you're your eyes at the back of your heads"

"I'm not like that"

"Said by a guy who had a scandalous video with woman that's not his wife", Margaret said as she faced the blaring tree

"That's the past and I'm not proud of it. Now I'm doing everything to be the best guy for your daughter. If you really treat her as your daughter of course", Luke almost hissed

"Don't teach me how to be a mother Luke. I already brought up one and adopted somebody else's son. Do that to your mother who tolerated women who have nothing to do in their lives other than just cheap  posts in the internet"

Luke frowned on that. Of course she will hit his sister. The girl can do anything she wants and it's none of this woman's business

"Why are you angry with Christine?", he asked instead

The old woman looked at him furiously, "She disfigured me. The reason why I retired as a model is because of her. After her birth there goes the post natal depression that made me lost everything that I had. Now, nobody wants to get me because they thought I'm lunatic. Did you know how it felt? Modelling is the only thing that I know doing ever since I was a kid"

"I'm sorry about that Margaret, but aren't you proud having Christine? She's an architect and very good at that"

"It's worthless because she doesn't have the guts to take our family business being weak that she is"

"She can do whatever makes her happy! Anyway whatever", he breathed slowly to calm his nerves for his next statement, "I don't want to hear anything against Christine. Ever. Christine is perfect for me and her body gave me my Charlie. If you can't say anything nice specifically around Charlie, who by the way will pick up all things you say and can be use against Christine someday, please leave them alone. I don't care whatever Christopher might do about it but this will all stop now." He turned to leave the old woman sulking

Luke found his girl in the hallway waiting for him to leave the house. She's on that lovely fitted green dress with big pink roses crawling from the dress right side to it's upper left side, showing how majestic her body is. She half smiled at him with almost a teary sleepy eyes

"I'm perfect for you?", she asked

"Of course babe", he said hugging the girl, "You are my perfect girl"
