05.| Chapter 5
"And rich girls don't stand the likes of you stuck up wannabes!"
"Are you ready Rosie?" Nick questions his sister, pulling at the red, black and white zentangle bow tie around his neck, straitening his blue suit jacket. A sun hat with a black band sitting on his head, a little too the side. A dark crimson handkerchief tucking into his jacket pocket matching the colour of his sisters dress. Rose nods gently, shaking her hands lightly at her sides, hearing the jingles of her bracelets. Placing her hands on her hips, she checks herself over.
A beautiful dark crimson silk dress clings to her body exotically, hugging her curves neatly, dipping into the valley of her breasts, embellished with a lace black strip of sequins. Black jewels, lace and sequins decorates her dress in angular patterns, falling in and out on each other, the end of the dress, cut into angular points, with long thin tassels dancing around her tanning legs. The silver necklace laying gently on against her chest. Simple black ankle heels, shining and glossy, split at the sides, with a piece of fabric holding the middle together buckled just right on her ankles.
Styling her hair into a loose bun, fluffing and pulling strands to frame her face, twirling the sides of her hair back loosely into the bun, placing a delicate jewel on the top of her head, closer to her forehead with beads hanging to fit around the side of her head. Strategically, Rose applies a generous amount of concealer on her bruised cheek, decorated with matt purples and reds, taking care with how much pressure she applies. Proceeding to apply a blood red lipstick to her plump lips, shading her eyelids in gold and black to balance the concealer on her face.
"Let's go!" Nick cheers, steering her out the house with a gentle hand, wrapping her arm through his as he takes her down the scenic route to Gatsby's. Live music trembles the street, swaying the trees, thumping into guests bodies, jumping and bouncing around, jazzing their way to the mansion owned by Gatsby. Keeping to the side away from the cars swerving their way through the drive way, flappers and high class English men hang and fling themselves inside the car, screaming and shouting as they go, wine bottles in their hands, pouring the disgusting liquid down their throats.
"You go ahead Nikki. I'm gonna go the more quieter - less people way" She speaks gently to her brother, who nods completely taken by the scene in front of him. Rose giggles lightly, pulling herself away from him, politely excusing herself through a few couples and groups she'd bumped into trying to go through the garden.
Taking a breath of cold air, Rose rubs her arms lightly, creating friction for herself now she didn't have the heat from her brother. Her eyes wandering over the beautiful contained garden in front of her. Her jaw drops, completely taken by the extraordinary view, her wide eyes falling on every possible thing they could observe. Luscious roses bloom from the deep depths of the wet soil, carefully taken care of and trimmed from all thorns which grow naturally on the light green stem. They grew in thick bushes rising as high as her waist, red, white and pink, all the beauty's and precious gems smelling just as divine as the other.
